TAKATA RECALL. OUR PRIMARY FAMILY CAR IS AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL, WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS UNSAFE FOR USE DUE TO MALFUNCTIONING AIR BAG. MONTHS AFTER RECEIVING NOTICE OF THIS ISSUE, WE STILL HAVE NOT HEARD OF A SOLUTION OTHER THAN "DON'T USE THE FRONT SEAT," WHICH ISN'T ALWAYS FEASIBLE WHEN THE CAR IS THE MAIN MODE OF TRANSPORTATION FOR A FAMILY WITH A CHILD. THIS NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED, OR SOME SOLUTION NEEDS TO BE GIVEN. TAKATA RECALL - RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JUNE 2016. AS OF TODAY, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A NOTICE OF REMEDY. I CURRENTLY MAKE MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON MY VEHICLE, HOWEVER I CAN'T USE MY VEHICLE TO IT'S FULLY CAPACITY. THIS HAS BEEN EXTREMELY AN INCONVENIENCE NOT JUST FOR ME, BUT FOR MY FAMILY AS WELL. IT FURTHER EXPLAINED THAT IF A REMEDY HAS NOT BEEN PROVIDED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT I SHOULD SUBMIT A COMPLAINT THROUGH THIS SITE. I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF ANY SUCH REMEDY AND I BELIEVE THAT MORE THAN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME HAS PASSED. TAKATA RECALL - MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 1 YEAR AND 3 MONTHS NOW, WAITING FOR A REPAIR. AT WHAT POINT WILL THE GOVERNMENT WAKE UP AND ISSUE THAT THESE CARS ARE LEMONS? MY VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED IN A TIMELY MANOR. IT HAS BEEN WAY TOO LONG. TOYOTA CORPORATE WILL NOT WORK WITH ME, IN FACT, THEY HUNG UP ON ME TWICE ALREADY. THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS POINTING FINGERS BACK AT CORPORATE TO SOLVE THE ISSUE. CORPORATE IS TELLING THE CONSUMER THAT TAKATA IS TO BLAME.... THEY SIMPLY DO NOT CARE. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE. WHY ISN'T THE GOVERNMENT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BREWING AND IF I MUST PARTICIPATE IN IT, THEN I WILL. HOWEVER, WHY CAN'T THE GOVERNMENT FORCE THIS SCHEMING COMPANY TO REPLACE THE VEHICLES IF NOT FIXED IN A TIMELY MANNER? THE CALIFORNIA LEMON LAW (WHERE I LIVE) I THOUGHT COVERED THIS... TAKATA RECALL - THIS IS MY 2ND OFFICIAL COMPLAINT AGAINST TOYOTA REGARDING MY 2011 TOYOTA COROLLA, AND THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL (PASSENGER AIRBAG). MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR AND 4 MONTHS NOW, AND THERE IS NO REMEDY FOR MY VEHICLE. I HAVE MET, IN PERSON, WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP (WHERE MY CAR IS BEING KEPT), AND HE TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING HE CAN DO, I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICE, AND THEY ASSIGNED ME WITH A CASE MANAGER AND THE CASE MANAGER DENIED HELPING ME, I HAVE CALLED AND COMPLAINED TO MY ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE OF CALIFORNIA AND THEY EXPLAINED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, AND THIS IS MY SECOND TIME FILING A VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA AND I HAVE HEARD NOTHING BACK FROM YOU(NHTSA) EITHER. THIS RECALL IS A BURDEN BECAUSE WHEN AND IF TOYOTA ACTUALLY PERFORMS THE RECALL REMEDY ON MY VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO NEED TO HAVE A COMPLETE OVERHAUL (OIL CHANGED, BATTERY REPLACED, FUEL LINES SYPHONED AND REPLACED, FILTERS (AIR, OIL, AND FUEL) REPLACED, AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND BRAKE LINES FLUSHED AND REFILLED IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE BACK IN OPERATIONAL CONDITION. I CALLED TOYOTA EXPERIENCE CTR 9/6/16 AND WAS DIRECTED TO MY DEALER, ARLINGTON TOYOTA. I CALLED THE DEALER ON 9/6/16, 9/8/16 & 9/16/16. I FINALLY SPOKE WITH A SERVICE ADVISOR ON 9/16. WE SET UP A LONG TERM RENTAL TO BE PICKED UP EARLY OCTOBER. ON THE DATE OF PICK-UP WE HAD TO EVACUATE D/T HURRICANE MATTHEW. NOW, THE EARLIEST DATE FOR PICK-UP IS 11/1. MY 16 YEAR OLD SON DRIVES THAT CAR. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE WITH HIM DRIVING IT. I DON'T FEEL HE IS SAFE. EVEN IF ONLY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHILE HE WAS DRIVING, THIS COULD STILL CAUSE HIM TO LOSE CONCENTRATION, CRASH, OR WORSE. WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG? MY CHILD'S SAFETY IS AT STAKE. AS THE RECALL WAS ISSUED MAY 23, 2016, I AM GUESSING THE NOTICE WAS SENT OUT IN MAY OR JUNE. THE NOTICE RECOMMENDS OWNERS NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS A GREAT INCONVENIENCE. A STAFF MEMBER AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, STERLING MCCALL, TOLD ME A FEW MONTHS AGO THAT TOYOTA WOULD TAKE ABOUT 8 MONTHS TO BEGIN REPAIRS ON THE RECALLED VEHICLES. THIS IS TOO LONG A WAIT. THEY LOOK TO BE STALLING TO MINIMIZE THEIR OWN FINANCIAL LOSS.
