My 2014 Camaro SS, has about 35k miles on it now, and only drive during the summer. I was looking for a parking spot at work, went to turn right, and the steering wheel totally locked up on me, would not turn left or right from a straight position, ended up slamming on the brakes for i wouldn't run into the embankment in front of me. Put the car in Park, kept playing with the steering wheel, and it finally came free and turned right, after trying to go from left to right a couple of times. So put it back in drive and it performed normally the rest of the day. Sometimes when parking the car, the key will not go fully into the lock position, without starting and shutting the car down a few times, and wiggling the steering wheel in the center position. I See there is a steering related recall on this vehicle but thinking that isn't the problem, but will check it out just in case. But as you can see this could be a very dangerous situation when driving down the highway at 70 MPH. This car was also one that had the key upgrade to it for the issue with the ignition switch, but thinking that isn't an issue. I also used to work for GM in Powertrain, and the switch/sensor area for a while where the one gentleman was fired from, and now retired from GM. So am very familiar with vehicles and thinking it may be the locking mechanism in the steering wheel that is having issues, or the PCM is having glitches? Any help you can provide would be most appreciated.
The driver may accidentally bump the ignition key with their knee, moving the ignition
When I drive my knee turns the key, causing a the car to turn off. This is a safety issue that is concerning I am a mom. Every time my knee hits the part key while the car is on it turns the car off. The heater is an issue I have air but no heat. In order for me to fix the heater I told they would have to remove the entire window, but I would have to sign a waiver, because the window could break. Then they would have to remove the dash and another part in order to fix the heat in the car. This is in my opinion a safety issue I don’t understand how the heater could be fixed without causing the window in the car to possibly break. I was told the chances of the window not breaking in order to fix the heater in the car is nearly impossible. Which means I would have to buy a window and pay for labor in order to fix the heat in the car. 1. I have an ignition issue my knee is turning off the car when I drive. 2. Fixing the heat in the car is nearly impossible. 3. Please help check for recalls
The contact owned a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated while driving at approximately 15 MPH, another vehicle failed to yield and crashed into the front passenger side of the vehicle. The contact stated he depressed the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to stop, and the steering wheel failed. The air bags deployed seconds after the crash. No warning lights illuminated. The contact sustained an injury to his back and a head concussion. Medical attention was needed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance. The dealer was not notified. The manufacture was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage of 109,000.
THE AUDIO SOUNDS ARE NOT WORKING INCLUDING NO BLINKER SOUNDS. NO RADIO SOUND. NO RADIO WORKING IN AND OUT AND SCREECHING SOUND WHILE DRIVING DISTRACTING DRIVER , NO SEAT BELT SOUND WARNING , NO KEY LEFT IN IGNITION SOUND WARNING , ALL SAFETY ISSUES AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING AND YOU GUYS KEEP IGNORING IT. YOU NEED TO DO A RECALL ! SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF IT HASN'T ALREADY HAPPENED. ! ESPECIALLY THE SEAT BELT WARNING AND RADIO SCARING PEOPLE GOING ON AND OFF. !
OUR 2014 CHEVY CAMARO SS POWER STEERING WOULD LOCK UP ON US WHEN WE WERE DRIVING AND WOULD JERK AND WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO STEER THE CAR AND IT WAS VERY SCARY ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU WERE GOING THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65-70 MPH. MY HUSBAND WAS COMING HOME FROM COURT ON 9/8/20 AND IT WAS ALSO OUR 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND IT LOCKED UP ON HIM AND THE NEXT THING HE KNEW HE WAS HIT BY A LADY AND HE WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND OUR CAR WAS TOTALED AND HE DONT EVEN HAVE ANY RECOLITION OF WHAT HAPPENED THE IMPACT OF THE LADY HITTING HIM KNOCKED HIM OUT AND HE IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE HE SUFFERED A BROKE ARM AND HAD TO HAVE SURGERY TO HAVE A PLATE AND SCREWS PUT IN TO REPAIR IT AND WE DONT HAVE A VEHICLE NOW. WE HAD JUST PURCHASED THE CAR THE END OF MAY 2020. WE SEEN A RECALL ON THE STEERING LOCKING UP AND THE CHEVY DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLACE IT BECAUSE THE VIN NUMBER WASN'T ON RECALL. HOW CAN A VEHICLE THAT IS DOING THE SAME EXACT THING AS THE SAME EXACT VEHICLE WITH A DIFFERENT LETTER IN THE VIN NOT BE ON RECALL FOR THE SAME EXACT DEFECT? MY HUSBAND IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND NOW WE ARE LEFT WITH NO VEHICLE. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE ID LIKE TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPLACED DUE TO THIS RECALL THAT WAS DEFECTIVE IN MY VEHICLE. WE HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY TOLD HIM THE SAME THING ABOUT HIS VIN SO HE TRADED HIS CAMARO IN FOR A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. KEY CONSTANTLY GETS LOCKED UP IN IGNITION AFTER I PUT IN PARK. I TURN IT ON AND OFF TO KEY KEY OUT. LAST TIME I STARTED ABOUT THREE TIMES TURNED KEY OFF TRIED TAKING OUT. CALLED REPAIR SHOP SAID PUSH SHIFT ALL WAY IN PARK. FINALLY CAME OUT. LOTS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS BUT DIDN'T SEE RECALL

THE WHEEL LOCKS RANDOMLY NOT ALLOWING ME TO REMOVE MY KEY FROM THE IGNITION. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME- SOMETIMES I WAIT LIKE 5 MINUTES UNTIL IT RELEASES ON ITS ON BUT OTHERS I WAIT OVER 30 MINUTES AND IT WON'T RELEASE MY KEY. I CAN'T SIT IN MY CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WAITING FOR MY CAR TO RELEASE THE KEY.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY AND MY 2014 CHEVY CAMARO 2LT RS STOPPED WORKING. IT JUST COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD AS IT COULD'VE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY. IN ORDER FOR THE CAR TO DRIVE AGAIN, THE CAR HAD TO BE PUT IN PARK, TURNED OFF, AND RESTARTED. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK AND IT KEEPS HAPPENING OVER AND OVER. A RECALL IS MANDATORY FOR THIS LIFE ENDANGERING HAZARD.
KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION , IT'S BEEN HAPPENING OFF AND ON FOR OVER A YEAR

WHEN PARKING THE CAR AND SHIFTING TO PARK, THE IGNITION RELEASE SOLENOID IS NOT BEING ENERGIZED. PREVENTING ME FROM SWITCHING THE IGNITION COMPLETELY OFF AND BEING ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY. I TRIED SLAMMING THE GEAR SELECTOR IN PARK TO ACTIVE THE SWITCH BUT TO NO AVAIL. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TED BRITT CHEVROLET IN STERLING, VA AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
HAD TO REPLACE STEERING GEAR (RACK AND PINION). CAR BEGAN LEAKING AND ALL THE FLUID CAME OUT SO COULD NOT STEER. CAR HAS LOW MILEAGE, 24123.
IGNITION WILL NOT SHUT OFF, KEY CONTINUALLY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION. HAVE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND TURN OFF MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE KEY OUT. THE DASH CONTROL SHOWING TEMPERATURE CONTROLS LEVELS, TIMES, OUTSIDE TEMP, ETC GOES IN AND OUT (SHORT?) HEAT STAYS ON AND CANNOT ADJUST DUE TO BEING OUT. COME OUT TO THE GARAGE IN THE MORNING AFTER BEING OFF ALL NIGHT AND NOT WORKING TO THE SCREEN BEING LIT UP BLUE SHOWING DISPLAY ITEMS AS IT SHOULD WHILE ON AND WORKING, MIND YOU THE CAR IF OFF TURN CAR ON THE AND THE DISPLAY SHUTS OFF AGAIN.
GM DEFECTIVE SWITCH. HAD A KEY RECALL, TOOK CAR IN FOR REPAIR AT HERRIN GEAR, JACKSON MS, HIGH STREET. COULD NOT TAKE KEY OUT OF IGNITION, WOULD NOT SHOW CAR WAS IN PARKING PISITION. STEERING WAS LOCKING UP. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. TOOK CAR TO HERRING GEAR KEPT FOR 1 MONTH, REPAIR GUY SAID IT NEVER HAPPEN WITH HIM. SECOND TIME TO CAR REPAIR, HAPPEN WHEN I GOT OUT OF CAR. SERVICE PERSON SAID IT WAS A CENSOR. HAPPENING NOW.
THE IGNITION KEY WILL GET STUCK AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AND CAN TAKE UP TO FIVE MINUTES OF CYCLING THE KEY ON/OFF. THE CAR HAS 33,000 MILES. THE DEALER SUSPECTS THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH WHICH PROHIBITS THE RELEASE OF THE KEY UNTIL IT'S IN PARK.
I OWN A CHEVROLET, CAMARO 2014. THIS CAR HAS A DEFECT WITH THE STEERING KEY IGNITION. THE KEY WILL NOT RELEASE FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS IS A DEFECT AS A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH WILL SHOW HOW PREVALENT THIS ISSUE AS THERE ARE FORUMS AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS WITH CONSUMERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. EVEN WHEN I WAS AT THE DEALER THERE WAS ANOTHER PATRON THERE WITH THIS CAR, COMPLAINT AND DIAGNOSIS. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE IT IS A MATERIAL DEFECT BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT IS SO COMMON. PLEASE ASSIST. THIS MAY NOT SEEM LIKE THE SAME CONCERN AS AN AIRBAG BUT IT IS AN ISSUE AS IT ALLOWS THE CONSUMER TO BE VULNERABLE TRYING TO GET THEIR KEY IT OF THE IGNITION AND IN MOST CASES FAILING TO BE ABLE TO DO SO AND NEEDING TO EITHER LEAVE THE VEHICLE, HAVE IT TOWED AND POSSIBLY DEPENDING ON WHERE THIS HAPPENS BEING VULNERABLE. I WAS PARKED AT A GAS STATION AT NIGHT, ANYTHING COULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE I WAS FIDGETING WITH THIS KEY AND UNABLE TO GET IT TO RELEASE.
VEHICLE WAS HAVING A RADIO SHUT OFF ISSUE, WHERE ALL FM/AM STATIONS WERE NOT AVAILABLE, HOWEVER, SATELLITE RADIO WAS AVAILABLE. THE RADIO WOULD EMIT A "POP" SOUND AND THEN SHUT OFF (OCCURS DAILY). DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. NOW AS RECENT AS APR 30, 2017 (OCCURRING INTERMITTENTLY), WHEN RADIO TURNS OFF, ENTIRE VEHICLE TURNS OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH, NO WARNING WHATSOEVER. VEHICLE HAS TURNED OFF WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY. STEERING BECOMES UNAVAILABLE MAKING USE OF THIS VEHICLE INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE TO BEGIN REPAIR.
