This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 vehicles. Hard braking or acceleration may cause the sensing diagnostic module (SDM) to enter a fault state. As a result, the SDM will not provide crash sensing or deploy the necessary air bags in the event of a crash.
Remedy Status
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the SDM with updated software, free of charge. The recall began on June 29, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 18195.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that after parking in the driveway and turning the vehicle off, the doors would not open, trapping the driver and a front seat passenger inside the vehicle. The contact attempted to activate the emergency release to open the hard top roof but the emergency release did not operate. A friend was called to the home and attempted to pry open the hard roof, and the roof suddenly opened the doors were able to be opened. During the incident, the front seat passenger had trouble breathing while trapped inside the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was contacted and scheduled a service appointment. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was a slow leak in the passenger’s side rear wheel. The contact stated that air was added two to three days later, and the tire warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred for two weeks. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, and four new tires were ordered. While installing the tires, the mechanic became aware that two rear rims were cracked. The contact stated that one rear rim had two cracks, and the other rear rim had three cracks. The dealer had not recommended repairing the rims. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was unable to help because the contact had missed the deadline to have the cracked rims repaired by January 01, 2025. The failure mileage was approximately 14,500.
A 2019 Corvette with 3,400 miles began to demonstrate a transmission torque converter shutter. This became rapidly and progressively worse causing driving to resemble being on a washboard road surface. The servicing dealer was familiar with the problem with this transmission and did resolve the issue with an expensive transmission fluid flush and exchange.
Fuel Filler Neck not Sealing
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway to inspect the vehicle. After a visual inspection of the engine compartment, the contact observed that the #5 and #6 spark plugs had burned and melted. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the high-pressure fuel pump causing the vehicle to run lean, resulting in damages to the engine and spark plugs. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed by the dealer that the manufacturer was no longer producing the 6.2-liter V8 engine for the year, make, and model. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 35,000.
Engine needed to be replaced and it was but new engine misfiring and throwing knock codes and misfire codes. Contacted General Motors only to be told they can’t do anything about it and that’s unacceptable. GM has a well known issue with the transmission fluid used in assembly on a range of cars and dates which include my 2019 Corvette. The fluid used fails/ is defective. The process to fix the issue is to flush the fluid out and put in a different fluid. In the case of my Corvette, it actually requires a very expensive triple flush to ensure all of the original Dexron fluid has been removed and is replaced my Mobil fluid. The process is explained in an 18 page service bulletin 18-NA-355. This bulletin states that if a customer comes in complaining of shake/shudder during acceleration between 25 to 80mph or when the trans is not actively shaking, then there is no need to further diagnose. Just follow the procedure in the service bulletin. In other words, there is no need to investigate further because we already know what the problem is which is the defective Dexron fluid. This was my exact experience with the shake/shudder and the triple flush completely fixed the issue. My vehicle has 17k miles on it so this was no a normal maintenance issue nor would you expect a full flush of transmission fluid at 17k or really at any point. Perhaps adding some fluid at some point would be reasonable. Having to completely remove all traces of the assembly line fluid with a completely different fluid clearly indicates a defect in the original Dexron. The service bulletin clearly indicates GM knows that the Dexron is defective. A final note, a quick web search of this issue will bring up pages of threads of people who have experienced this exact issue. Please hold GM responsible for their error. Thanks
Engine blew up and it’s been at dealership waiting on GM to replace sense January 2025. And GM has done nothing to fix the problem. Been paying car note and renting a vehicle at my cost also . And they are still doing nothing. How can these people be aloud to treat Americans like this without any recourse?
My vehicle has been a legacy gmc dealership in Slidell la for three months now waiting on a replacement engine from a factory failure. And I have no clue when and if I will ever get it back because all General Motors is says is that the engine is on back order and from what I’m reading they discontinued this engine back in 2023. They haven’t helped me with anything I been paying my car note and renting a vehicle at my cost and they’re doing nothing. And I can’t get them to give me any info on if or when this will get fixed . Meanwhile, this is putting a huge financial burden on me and my family and GM doesn’t give [XXX][ about it. Companies like this be allowed to just walk over people with no record of their actions. Thank you for any help with this. I’ve reached out to everyone and no one will help. Thank you. case number [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

In addition, the contact was informed that the driver's side front and rear rims were also cracked. The contact was informed that all three rims needed to be replaced. The rims were ordered but were not yet replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the passenger's side rear rim was previously replaced in April 2023. Well known and documented failure of 2015-2019 Corvette ZO6 and Grand Sport wheels cracking prematurely due to poor manufacturing process. General Motors/Chevrolet has already publicly admitted liability to avoid court cases already filed. They agreed to offer extended warranty to owners of affected vehicles in 2024, offering full replacement cost of defective wheels. They assigned a company, Analytics Consulting LLC of [XXX] , to administer the claim process. I received my claim form in July of 2024. I filled out and supplied all required documentation on August 20, 2024, they later acknowledged receipt August 22, 2024. All claim forms were required to be sent by January 25, 2025. They informed me by phone call that they would not begin processing claims until March 1, 2025. All through the Summer of 2025, after several phone calls, that no information would be released as to the completion of processed claims until all claims had been completed. No time line given or offered. To date there has been no other information or updates on when the claims will be paid. I have filed a claim with the State of Georgia Attorney Generals office, they were unable to help. I have gone to the local ABC news station where they did a story on the issue, no resolution. This is a national issue for all owners of the affected vehicles. There have been many articles and videos published regarding the issue. Analytics Consulting is holding those with a legitimate claim hostage. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the transmission system along with the torque converter began to malfunction as the car seemed to change from different modes. This malfunction caused the transmission to shudder, which caused a very bad vibration while accelerating and driving between the speed of 25-70mph. These actions or behaviors by the car surely poses a control and stability risks well as a safety risk for everyone on the highway and to myself. This issue was confirmed by the GM dealership I took the car to on 8/23/2024 and they said they could not get to it until 9/9/2024 and they will have to do a triple transmission fluid flush based on a service bulletin (TSB 18-NA-335) which was issued by General Motors. My car gave me no warning by way of lights or messages within the car. I would like to know why this repair is not covered under the service bulletin since General Motors knows this is a issue with the cars.
The Corvette C7 Grand Sport wheels/rims are faulty. They bend and crack under normal driving and are dangerous.
In my 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, the transmission system began to malfunction, specifically related to the torque converter. This malfunction caused the transmission to shudder, creating a noticeable vibration during acceleration and driving. The unpredictable behavior of the vehicle due to the shuddering compromised control and stability, posing a risk to my safety and the safety of others on the road. The problem was confirmed by the dealership's service center, which performed a transmission fluid flush according to the service bulletin (TSB 18-NA-355) issued by General Motors. Although there were no specific warning lamps or messages, the shuddering symptom appeared several months before the repair. The dealership corrected the issue by performing the necessary service, which cost me $853.52, an amount I paid under protest as I believe it should have been covered under the service bulletin. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request, and the dealership, acting as an authorized representative of the manufacturer, diagnosed and addressed the issue.
Rear passenger wheel cracked for no apparent reason.
The low tire presure dash indicator indicated that the right rear tire was low (17 psi). The tire shop found that the inner flange of the wheel had cracked, resulting in a leak and a safety issue. The vehicle has only 18K miles and is not driven hard or raced. Could this be a safety recall issue?0
I have had 2 wheels crack before 14000 miles. No track driving or racing. This happened under normal driving conditions.
Both headlights when out with only 9500 miles. Bulbs replaceed 12/9/23 DeLillo Chevrolet.
I HAD 2 REAR 2019 CORVETTE GRAND SPORT OEM WHEELS CRACK, AND LEAK AIR REQUIRING EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT, I ALSO HAVE THE OTHER 2 ORIGINAL WHEELS NOW BENT. THE DEALER IN TERRYVILLE CT WAS NOTIFIED, BUT GM DENIED THE CLAIM - I STILL HAVE THESE WHEELS FOR INSPECTION DRIVING ON BENT OR CRACKED WHEELS IS A HAZARD SINCE THEY COULD FAIL AT SPEEDS - THERE IS NO WARNING OR SYMPTOMS UNTIL THE LOW AIR LIGHT COMES ON
Purchased the vehicle with 7944 miles, currently has around 11,000. One of the tires was leaking air so had an auto repair shop look at all the tires and rims. THREE of the rims are cracked. I am not driving the vehicle for safety reasons. It is not safe to drive with a cracked rim. I did not hit any road hazards or pot holes. The rims appear to be defective and after 11,000 miles should not have damage.
