My heater started to shut off then I’d turn it off then turn it back on then it’d come back on again. That went on for a few days. Started my truck in the morning and let it warm up for a few moments when I hear truck is on fire. The fire was in the cab of the truck. It was investigated and they said fire started in the right side of the dash which is where the faulty part is from what I’ve learned about other Chevy trucks same make model and year as my truck
Instrument panel stopped working. Speedometer, fuel gauge and ammeter not working.
I was driving in normal conditions around 45 mph with the air conditioner on high. Smoke starts pouring out from underneath the dash on the passenger side and once I get stopped the blower motor resistor had caught fire. I was able to put the fire out myself no incident report was filed. It caused damage to my dash but I was able to extinguish it rather quickly to avoid further damage. I just bought this pick up for my 17-year-old son and if he had of been driving things could’ve been a lot worse especially if his reaction time is any slower than mine.
IGNITION WILL NOT INTERMITTENTLY START VEHICLE. DASH LIGHTS COME ON
NEW OPTIMA RED TOP KEEPS DRAINING. SECOND NEW BATTERY IN A MONTH. DEAD OVER NIGHT. I'VE READ THERE'S A RECALL ON OTHER VINS. YET MINE IS DOING THE SAME BATTERY DRAIN THING. LEFT MY WIFE AT MCDONALD'S TODAY HIGH AND DRY! WTF! DON'T MAKE ME GET A FORD!
1) BRAKE LINE RUSTED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. 2) A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED ONLY TO BE TOTALLY DEAD WITHIN 1 WEEK 3) ALTERNATOR REPLACED AS THAT WAS THOUGHT TO BE THE PROBLEM 4) FINALLY FOUND THE PROBLEM AND IT IS THE ABS SYSTEM AS THE MODULATOR / PUMP FOR THIS SYSTEM WOULD CONTINUALLY RUN EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF.
THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER WILL STOP WORKING. NO GAUGES, SPEEDOMETER, OR TACHOMETER. USUALLY OCCURS AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. KNOW OF SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVING/HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MODEL. SOMETIMES THE CLUSTER WILL BECOME ACTIVE AGAIN WHILE DRIVING, BUT USUALLY DOESN'T.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER- THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS IS THE SPEEDOMETER IF I HIT A BUMP THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING MY TRUCK SOMETIMES DIES ON ME GOING DOWN THE ROADS, I RECENTLY TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND TOLD ME IT'S A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM BUT SINCE MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WASNT WORKING COULD NOT NARROW IT DOWN.. WINDSHIELD- FRONT MAKES A WHISTLE SOUND WHEN YOUR GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT'S BEEN LIKE THAT SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT.. BATTERY- BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO AND SOMETHING KEEPS DRAINING IT SOMETIMES CAUSING IT TO HAVE HESITATION AND BOGS OUT.
BRIGHT LITE INDICATOR LITE COMES ON DASH WITH NO KEY IN IGNITION, KILLS BATTERY OVER NITE. GAS GAUGE IN DASH DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK, TRUCK HAS TO GET MOVING, SOMETIMES RIGHT AWAY AND SOMETIMES A LITTLE LONGER. HAD TO REPLACE MY THROTTLE BODY CONTROL A COUPLE MONTHS PRIOR
OIL PRESSURE GAUGE PEGGED OUT AND NOT WORKING ALSO GEAR SELECTOR LIGHT NOT WORKING CAN'T TELL WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN
MY WHOLE DASHBOARD STOPS WORKING THE GAUGES LIGHTS EVERYTHING JUST STOPPED WORKING. I WAS TRAVELING DOWN INTERSTATE AND EVERYTHING STOPPED WORKING BUT AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT ALL CAME BACK ON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND IT ALL SHUT OFF AGAIN AND NEVER CAME BACK ON I MADE IT HOME AND TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND WENT INSIDE. I GOT UP THE NEXT MORNING TO GO TO WORK AND CRANKED THE TRUCK AND NO GAUGES OR LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING STILL. I SLAMMED MY HAND DOWN ON TOP OF THE DASHBOARD AND EVERYTHING CAME ON AND WAS WORKING BUT THAT DIDN'T LAST LONG AND EVERYTHING SHUT OFF AGAIN.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL OF ALL GAUGES INCLUDING SPEEDOMETER AND GEAR SELECTION ' GAUGES CAN QUIT WORKING WITH NO WARNING , LEAVING THE DRIVER UNAWARE OF SPEED OR DISTANCE TRAVELED. ALSO NOT KNOWING WHAT POSITION THE GEAR SELECTOR IS IN . ( PARK, NEUTRAL , DRIVE ETC. ) COULD ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO DRIFT AWAY ON IT OWN WITH NO ONE BEHIND THE WHEEL WHEN NOT BEING DRIVEN . CAN HAPPEN AT ANY MOMENT , ANY PLACE !

THE CONTACT CALLED PORTER CHEVROLET AT 302-722-4822 (LOCATED AT 414 E CLEVELAND AVE, NEWARK, DE 19711) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 173,000.

THE TPS THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR CHECK ENGINE CODE KEEPS GOING OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE TPS CODE GOES OFF THE ENGINE LOSES TOTAL POWER AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WE HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY BUT THE ISSUE IS STILL REMAINING EVEN AFTER REPLACING DIFFERENT WIRES.

THE ISSUE I'M REPORTING TOOK PLACE IN MY 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD VIN: [XXX] BUT THE VEHICLE ITSELF WAS NOT AT FAULT. THE PROBLEM WAS FROM A EVERSTART MAXX BATTERY SERIAL# JCH1600480782 MANUFACTURED BY JOHNSON CONTROLS INC, SOLD BY WALMART. I NOTICED A PROBLEM ON 7/25/2017 AFTER DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN NEEDING TO USE THE WINDSHIELD WASHER TO CLEAN INSECTS OFF TO IMPROVE VISIBILITY. WHEN I USED THE CONTROL TO ACTIVATE THE WINDSHIELD WASHER NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER ARRIVING HOME I ATTEMPTED TO FILL THE WASHER FLUID BUT IT WAS ALREADY HALF FULL. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK AND NOTICED LEAKING WASHER FLUID. I THOUGHT MAYBE THERE WAS A LEAK SOMEWHERE SO I INVESTIGATED IT. TO GET TO THE WASHER BOTTLE THE BATTERY MUST BE REMOVED AND WHEN REMOVED IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE BATTERY WAS LEAKING ACID EVERYWHERE. SOME ACID DID GET ON MY CLOTHING AND ATE THROUGH IT BUT THANKFULLY NONE MADE CONTACT WITH MY SKIN. THE BATTERY SITS ABOVE THE WASHER BOTTLE, PUMP, LINES, AND BATTERY TRAY - ALL OF THESE COMPONENTS WERE DESTROYED BY LEAKING ACID. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH JOHNSON CONTROLS INC, THE MAKER OF THE BATTERY AND THEY SEEM DISINTERESTED IN WHAT HAPPENED. I HAVE SAVED ALL DAMAGED PARTS, RECEIPTS, AND CORRESPONDENCE SO FAR. IN THE FOLLOWING PICTURES YOU WILL SEE THE WHITE CORROSION FROM THE ACID LEAK AND THE PARTS THAT WERE DESTROYED LEAVING THE WINDSHIELD WASHER INOPERABLE WHILE DRIVING AND REDUCING VISIBILITY. I'LL ALSO INCLUDE A PICTURE OF THE SHIRT THAT CAME INTO CONTACT WITH ACID WHEN LIFTING THE BATTERY OUT AND THE HOLES IT ATE THROUGH THE FABRIC. THE BATTERY KEEPS BEING DRAINED WHEN ENGINE STAYS TURNED OFF. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS 2003 SILVERADO ISSUE WITH MANY OTHER OWNERS. WHEN I RESEARCHED ON A RECALL I FOUND THE RECALL NUMBER (02066) BUT IT STATES THAT OUR TRUCK VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED BUT THEN WHY HAVE I BOUGHT 4 BATTERIES JUST THIS YEAR ALONE? PLEASE HELP BECAUSE IT NO LONGER CRANKS UP AT ALL. I HAVE TO JUMP THE TRUCK EVERY TIME I HAVE TO TURN IT ON.
BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS SLOWLY WITH THE BATTERY RUNNING OUT BECAUSE SOMETHING IS STILL RUNNING IN THE VEHICLE BUT EVERYTHING IS OFF. THE GAS GAUGE GEAR CONTROL LIGHTING ON THE PANEL DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT LOCK SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING WAS CHECKED BY A MECHANIC AND HE ADDRESS THAT SOMETHING IS NOT CONSTANT RUNNING EVEN THOUGH EVERYTHING IS TURNED OFF THAT CAUSE THE BATTERY TO RUN DOWN WHEN IT IS OFF. ALSO THE LIGHTS DON'T LIGHT ON THE RIGHT SIDE STAYS ON AND NEVER GOES OFF WHEN RUNNING THE VEHICLE. I NOTICED THIS ON A LOT OF 2500 CHEVY TRUCKS. WE HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE IN TO BE CHECK.
