AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM DOWNTOWN SUDDENLY MY TRUCK LOST POWER AND I HAD TO LIMP HOME ,FRIEND CHECKED TRUCK AND FOUND TROUBLE CODE P2135 REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND ALSO SAID FOR ME TO CHECK IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM .
I LEFT MY HOME AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES BEFORE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT. I WAS AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES.UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ENGAGED THE TRANSMISSION. AT THIS POINT THE PEDAL SEEMED TO TRAVEL FURTHER THAN USUAL. I LEFT THE PARKING LOT AND DROVE ABOUT 200' BEFORE HAVING TO STOP; THIS TIME THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD BUT SLOWED THE VEHICLE SOMEWHAT.(AT THIS POINT THE DASH SHOWED A CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM).BY DRIVING UNDER 30 MPH I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THE LINES WERE RUSTED AS WERE THE CALIPERS. PARTS AND LABOR=$1700 THE TRUCK IS 12 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 26,910 MILES ON IT. *TR
BRAKE LINES WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING - NO LIGHT SHOWING COMPRESSION OR FLUID LEAKING. STILL NO LIGHTS HAVE COME ON. IF WE HAD BEEN GOING FASTER, WE COULD HAVE HIT SOMETHING. LUCKILY MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND HE KNEW HOW TO REACT BY DOWN SHIFTING TO SAVE US. THE BRAKE LINES ARE ALL RUSTED. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF. WE FEEL THAT GM USED CHEAP METAL FOR THESE LINES AND COULD HAVE COMPROMISED OUR LIVES. *TR

THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A PILE OF BRICK BOULDERS. THE DRIVER SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE BACK SHOULDERS, AND NECK. THE THREE YEAR OLD PASSENGER IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT SUFFERED AN INJURED BACK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AN INVESTIGATOR WAS SENT TO THE HOME TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE, BUT COULD NOT LOCATE A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND BACK. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE DEALER REGARDING THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAD NO REPORTS OF ANY SILVERADO'S ACCELERATING WITHOUT WARNING. WHILE DRIVING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" IS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. STEPPING ON THE GAS DOES NOTHING. THE VEHICLE JUST COASTS ALONG AND RUNS ROUGH. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT IT OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T CLEAR THE PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY AND NEEDS TO BE RESTARTED SEVERAL TIMES. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON AS TO WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY DAY, ON BUSY EXPRESSWAYS OR ON MAIN ROADS AND SIDE ROADS. THE GAS PEDAL LOSES COMMUNICATION WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS NERVE WRACKING WHEN DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE WONT RESPOND TO STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. TRYING TO GET OVER SEVERAL LANES TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IS DANGEROUS WHEN THERE IS NO ACCELERATION. IT IS ALSO BAD WHEN ON A BUSY, MAIN ROAD, THE VEHICLE "ACTS UP". I HAVE TO PULL OVER, BLOCKING TRAFFIC, UNTIL I CAN GET IT GOING AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HEAVY DUTY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHTS WERE OPERATING, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. HOWEVER WHEN THEY WERE OFF, THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION. WHEN THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS WERE ON, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, REACTIVATE THE LIGHTS, RESTART THE ENGINE, AND THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE DEALER ADVISED HAVING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT COULD NOT CONFIRM THE RESULTS OF THE PREVIOUS DIAGNOSTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS UNKNOWN.

THE REDUCED POWER WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE CONTACT MOVED THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE DEALER RE-ROUTED THE INSIDE ENGINE HARNESS YET THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY PERFORMED AN ENGINE RELEARN SERVICE. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.

GM SENT OUT A LETTER TELLING ITS CUSTOMERS THAT IF YOU HAD A SILVERADO (MINE IS A 2003) THAT HAS SPEEDOMETER PROBLEMS IT COULD NBE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE IF IT HAS LESS THAN 70,000 MILE OR 7 YEARS. MY TRUCK STARTED HAVING SPEEDOMETER PROBLEMS WHEN IT HIT 81,000, SO EVEN THOUGH ITS 5 YEARS OLD I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED? ITS NOT LIKE ITS A SPEEDOMETER CABLE, ITS THE WHOLE CLUSTER WHICH IS PRETTY EXPENSIVE. I THINK GM NEEDS TO MAKE GOOD ON THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *TR

I OWN A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB PICK UP WHICH WAS PURCHASED USED 3 MONTHS AGO. SINCE THE TIME THAT I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE ACCELERATOR STICKING. BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE HAD AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA AND GENERAL MOTORS HAS ISSUED A RECALL DUE TO THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY CLAIM THAT I AM NOT ELIGIBLE BECAUSE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED AND OUT OF WARRANTY. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING,AS WELL AS THE RPM INDICATOR AT APPROX. 26,000 MILES DRIVEN ON THE PICKUP.. I HAVE LEARNED THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS DEFECT RATHER THAN A RECALL. I NEVER RECEIVED THE LETTER ADVISING ME OF THIS FROM GM, ALTHOUGH I OWNED THE PICKUP SINCE 2006. I STOPPED DRIVING THE PICKUP BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SAFE TO BE UNABLE TO ASCERTAIN HOW FAST I WAS I DRIVING. I LEARNED ABOUT THIS DEFECT WHEN I CALLED A DEALERSHIP TO DISCUSS THE REPAIR LAST MONTH, AS MY VEHICLE WAS NOT USABLE. I THEN CALLED GM AND THEY SAID THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THIS IS NOT FAIR, AND HAS RENDERED MY VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT A HIGH COST TO ME FOR THEIR DEFECTIVE PART. I REQUEST THAT THEY COVER THEIR DEFECT.
I OWN A 2003 SILVERADO LS HALF TON PICK UP TRUCK. THIS PAST WEEKEND, I WAS RETURNING FROM FT. WORTH, TX AND HAD MY CRUISE CONTROL SET ON 67MPH. I WAS STOPPED AND TOLD THAT I WAS CLOCKED AT 85MPH. AFTER MUCH ARGUMENT, THE OFFICER ALLOWED ME TO LEAVE, AND THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL. APPARENTLY, WHILE THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT 67, THE SPEED HAD CREPT UP TO 85MPH. I DID NOT DRIVE MY TRUCK SUNDAY OR MONDAY, BUT WHEN I LEFT TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP TUESDAY MORNING, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS WORKING FINE. MY MECHANIC CHECKED FOR ANY CODES AND IT TURNED UP AN IP CODE WHATEVER THAT MAY BE. CONSIDERING IT WOULD COST ABOUT $600.00 DOLLARS TO HAVE SOMETHING REPLACED THAT IS NOW WORKING, I ELECTED TO KEEP AN EYE ON IT. MY QUESTION IS, HOW CAN I TRUST THIS NOW? THIS CAN BE QUITE EXPENSIVE IF I AM ISSUED A CITATION, BUT MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE, IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. I OWN A 2003 C1500 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WHICH HAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000 MILES ON IT. ON THREE OCCASIONS IN THE LAST SIX WEEKS WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT POSTED SPEEDS THE SPEEDOMETER HAS GONE FROM APPROXIMATE 65 MPH, CORRECT READOUT, TO ANYWHERE BETWEEN 90-120 MPH. AFTER SITTING FOR 12 TO 36 HOURS THE SPEEDOMETER WILL READ CORRECTLY. THIS WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY GM.
