2003 CHEVROLET Silverado1500 HD have power hydro brake liitle leaking when driving so loud same time steering to turning so loud and very hard apply brake step on brake so loud try to stop not easy scary and parked at home right now, i beleive fact recall now because your repoert said that "found none recall", it is now problems same my dad have van recall for 2003 Express 1500 and Express 2500 van problems hybro booster brake and steering system found recall now... as 2003 CHEVROLET Silverado 1500 hd problem same thing the problem, you shoud add up recall because show " no found recall " ???, are you notice different? The vehicle was being driven in a parking lot, fortunately, when there was a loud snapping noise that resulted in the total loss of steering control. The vehicle was moving at about 5 MPH at time of the incident. 10 minutes prior, it was being driven on the Freeway at 60 to 65 MPH. In the parking lot, at the time of the steering failure, it was put into Park, ignition was turned off and a Tow service was called to tow vehicle home. The next day, I (the owner) inspected the steering system and found the reason it failed. A threaded connection on the "Pitman Arm" had snapped in half, terminating the connection between the steering column and the center link, causing catastrophic failure of steering system. The vehicle was transported to a repair facility where my diagnosis was confirmed. The Pitman Arm was replaced, at a cost of about $600.00 and returned to service. There were no warning signs, that I was aware of, prior to the component failure. In my opening sentence, I use the term "fortunately" , which truly is an understatement . Had the incident occurred 10 minutes earlier while on the freeway or if it hadn't occurred in a parking lot at a relatively low speed, I don't even like to think about the death, injury and damage that would have occurred.
I BOUGHT A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD 15 YEARS AGO AND GAVE IT TO MY 16 YEAR OLD SON. RECENTLY WE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES AND STEERING WAS ACTING FUNNY AND MAKING A NOISE, SO WE REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND HOSES. THE PROBLEM ONLY STARTED GETTING WORSE. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND AN OLD RECALL OR NOTICE RELATED TO THE HYDRO-BOOST RELIEF VALVE THAT WAS DEFECTED BECAUSE OF O-RING FAILURE. JUST SEARCHING THE VEHICLE WILL SHOW SEVERAL SITES REVEALING THE PROBLEM. THE NADA SITE GOES INTO MORE DETAIL ON THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE PARKED THE TRUCK UNTIL A DECISION IS MADE. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURE AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE HAS TROUBLE WHEN STEERING AND LOOSES BRAKING.
4 RUGGED TERRAIN T/A LT265/75R-16 PURCHASED AT ODOMETER 91681. TIRES ROTATED AT 100955. FOLLOWING HAPPENED WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING. ON 8/19/2015, ODOMETER 109831, VEHICLE VIBRATING, FOUND BUBBLE (TREAD SEPARATION) ON LEFT REAR TIRE. TIRE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. ON 8/4/2017, ODOMETER 121840, VEHICLE VIBRATING, FOUND BUBBLE (TREAD SEPARATION) ON RIGHT REAR TIRE. HAVE NOT TAKEN TIRE TO DEALER YET. FRONT TIRES SEEM TO BE "SINGING" WITH A "RHYTHM" (BEST I CAN EXPLAIN). I'M HAVING ALL CHECKED OUT TODAY. I DON'T TRUST THESE TIRES ANYMORE.
The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering failed causing the steering wheel to become hard to maneuver. The contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the hydro boost area when the brake pedal or accelerator pedal were depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the intermediate shaft was faulty. The intermediate shaft was replaced however, the failure recurred. The contact requested the dealer to replace the power steering pump but the dealer informed the contact that the failure was caused by the power steering pump. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 115,000.

MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 196,000.

TRAVELING 25 MILES HOME ON INTERSTATE VAN HAD BEEN CUTTING OUT IF I PULL OVER STOP WAIT, CAN RE-START AND GO A WHILE. CANT PREDICT IT SEEMED TO STAY RUNNING IF I WENT FASTER BIG MISTAKE MOVED TO PASS IT QUIT, AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS ALMOST HAD TO GO INTO MEDIUM AFTER YELLING AND WAVING ARMS AND PRAYING I GOT BACK INTO THE RIGHT LANE PULLED OFF ONTO SHOULDER AND WENT TO PIECES. IT THEN STOPPED MORE AND MORE FINALLY GOT HOME AND HAVE NOT TOUCHED IT SINCE. I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT SIMILAR EVENTS AND IT SEEMS IT IS THE CRANKCASE POSITIONING SENSOR. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE KEY BACK AND FORTH IN THE IGNITION SWITCH NUMEROUS TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. THE CONTACT ALSO HAD DIFFICULTY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL UPON MAKING A TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED VIOLENTLY AND VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 162,829.
STARTED THE TRUCK AND PUT INTO REVERSE. THERE WAS NO BRAKE AND NO STEERING CONTROL. I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ALL FLUIDS WERE TOPPED OFF AS NORMAL AND I REGULARLY MAINTAIN THIS VEHICLE. AFTER REVIEWING THIS ISSUE IN THE DIESEL FORUM NUMEROUS DURAMAX OWNERS HAVE ENDURED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH SOME ENDING IN CRASHES. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!! REDUCED ENGINE POWER. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING OFF AND ON FOR ABOUT 9 MONTHS, HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND REPLACED EVERYTHING THAT WAS SAID WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS EVEN AFTER REPLACING: ACCELERATOR AND RECEIVER ON THROTTLE BODY AS WELL AS CHECKING WIRING HARNESS FOR ISSUES. ESSENTIALLY, THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE THE FUNCTION OF THE ACCELERATOR WITHOUT WARNING AT ANY GIVEN TIME DURING THE USE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA WHY IT STILL IS HAVING THIS ISSUE...THE OTHER DAY THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE SET IN AND AT THE SAME TIME THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THOUGHT THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT AT THE SAME TIME WAS A ONE TIME DEAL BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE VERY NEXT DAY. THE VEHICLE HAD THIS ISSUE ON THE HIGHWAY THE OTHER DAY AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IT IS SHOCKING THAT THERE ARE NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE, IF YOU LOOK UP FORUMS ON THIS TOPIC THERE ARE OVER 200,000 THREADS ON THIS VERY ISSUES. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF FORUM COMPLAINTS ABOUT REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND HOW PEOPLE HAVE SPENT $1000 PLUS AT THE DEALER AND THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTS. THE DRIVE BY WIRE FUNCTIONALITY INSTEAD OF USING A THROTTLE CABLE SEEMS TO BE HAVING ISSUES THAT EVEN GM DOESN'T HAVE AN ANSWER FOR. WOULD APPRECIATE ANY LOOKING INTO ON THIS SUBJECT. *TR

WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM A 2 WEEK VACATION (30 MILES FROM HOME) SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN ON A CITY STREET IN WOODLAND, CA, THE TRUCK JUST SHUT DOWN, NO STEERING, NO BRAKES, NO ENGINE, TOTAL ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWN. IT WAS EVERYTHING I COULD DO TO MAKE THE TURN AND PULL TO THE RIGHT. AT THE TIME I WAS PULLING MY 2009 BIGHORN FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER. IT WAS A SCARY TIME. I FINALLY STOPPED, LUCKY THERE WAS NO CARS PARKED ON THE RIGHT NEAR THE CURB. I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THEN WE CONTINUED THE TRIP HOME TO WINTERS, CA. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO IMLER DIESEL IN SACRAMENTO TO CHECK THE ENGINE OUT. THEY REPLACED THE INJECTORS WHICH WE HAD AGREED TO DO PRIOR TO MAKING THE TWO WEEK TRIP. THE NEXT TRIP WAS TO BODEGA BAY ON JANUARY 14, 2014. WE TRAVELED ABOUT 100 MILES. AGAIN WE WERE PULLING OUR FIFTH WHEEL TRAILER. SLOWING DOWN FROM 55 MPH TO 15 MPH, PREPARING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN IN DORAN BEACH PARK AT BODEGA BAY, THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN AGAIN.I CAME SO CLOSE TO HITTING A TREE. ONCOMING TRAFFIC STOPPED JUST IN TIME AS THE SPEED LIMIT AT 55 MPH SEEMED TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING GIVING ME TIME TO RESTART AND MOVE OFF THE HIGHWAY. MY WIFE AND I WERE BOTH SHAKEN UP A BIT, BUT ALSO FEELING VERY LUCKY NOT HAVING A CRASH. WE CONTINUED HOME 4 DAYS LATER. WE PARKED THE TRUCK.THE MILEAGE WAS 143579 AT THE START OF THE TRIP AND 143819 AT END. I HAVE NOT USED THE TRUCK SINCE. I DO NOT FEEL IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS DRIVING HOME AFTER MORITZ CHEVROLET IN FORT WORTH, TEXAS REPLACED A PASSENGERS DOOR MODULE. WHILE DRIVING 5-10 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED DURING LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. AFTER I RESTARTED THE TRUCK, THE STEERING WHEEL WENT BACK TO NORMAL. U-TURN AT INTERSECTION, AND TRUCK DIES. AGAIN. NO BRAKES OR STEERING. SCARED WOMEN. TURN IT OVER AND IT GOES. I TAKE MY TRUCK TO [XXX]. THEY HAVE JUST MOVED TO ANOTHER BUILDING DOWN THE STREET. ALL MY RECORDS OF IGNITION PROBLEMS GONE. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHERE ANY OF THEM WENT. THEY TEST DRIVE. NOTHING. THEY HAVE YET TO FIX ANYTHING ON IT. IT HASN'T DONE IT IN OVER A YEAR.
