THE REAR GLASS WINDOW FALLS OUT OF THE CONVERTIBLE ROOF AND INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THIS IS CHRONIC WITH MOST CROSSFIRE ROADSTERS. EASILY INVESTIGATED AND VERIFIED. IT CAN HAPPEN WHILE MOVING OR STANDING STILL.
I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE BACK WINDOW BECAME DETACHED FROM THE CANVAS. I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN JUST COMPLETELY FELL OUT.
I WAS DRIVING THE CROSSFIRE ONE EVENING AND IT SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WENT OFF AS WELL. THE CAR ROLLED TO A STOP BLOCKING ALL THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. I TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND NOTHING HAPPENED, I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR JUMP STARTED, WHICH TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. I HAD NO PROBLEMS OR INDICATIONS THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG TILL THIS HAPPENED. MECHANICS HAVE PUT IN A NEW BATTERY, A CRANK POSITION SENSOR, AND A CAM POSITION SENSOR ON THE CAR. IT STARTED ONCE AFTER THAT, RAN FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN STOPPED. AFTER THAT IT WON'T START, EVEN WHEN BEING JUMPED. TRYING TO GET A ECM FROM THE DEALER. DEALER SAID THE COST IS $2,700.00, AND ORDERS ARE PENDING UNTIL JULY 1, 2019 BECAUSE OF SUPPLIER CHANGE. PLUS THERE IS A FLASHING CHARGE OF $147.00 TO RESET THIS ITEM FOR THE CAR. OTHER INTERNET USERS HAVE REPORTED HAVING THEIR CARS SUDDENLY STOP RUNNING WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAYS ALSO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE REAR GLASS WINDOW SEPARATED FROM THE CONVERTIBLE ROOF TOP AND FELL INSIDE THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SZOTT M-59 DODGE LLC (2565 E. HIGHLAND RD. HIGHLAND CHARTER TWP, MI) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONVERTIBLE ROOF TOP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000. *LN
THIS 2006 CROSSFIRE ROADSTER IS GARAGE KEPT. THE CAR WAS PARKED, WHEN THE GLASS SEPARATED ON THREE SIDES FROM THE CLOTH CONVERTIBLE TOP. FAILURE OF THE REAR WINDOW GLASS APPEARS TO BE DUE TO LACK OF ATTACHMENT, OTHER THAN ADHESIVE GLUE. THE CLOTH CONVERTIBLE TOP IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THIS POSES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD TO THE PUBLIC, CONSIDERING THE VEHICLE IS RATED AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 150 MPH. IT APPEARS THAT CHRYSLER HAS RECALLED SOME 2005 MODELS WHICH HAVE THE SAME TYPE CONVERTIBLE TOPS AND GLASS WINDOWS, MADE BY KARMANN. AS THE SAFETY ISSUES CONTINUE I WOULD HOPE THAT CHRYSLER WOULD RECALL ALL OF THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS BEFORE THE PUBLIC IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. I AWAIT AN URGENT RESPONSE FROM CHRYSLER TO FIX THIS HAZARDOUS PROBLEM ME. CAR IS STATIONARY AND THE REAR WINDOW IS SEPARATING FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP
REAR GLASS OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP FALLING OUT, ONLY BEING HELD BY THE WINDOW DEFROSTER WIRES. THE ADHESIVE IN MANUFACTURING GAVE WAY. THE CAR IS ALWAYS GARAGED AND JUST OVER 15K MILES
THE VEHICLE'S REAR WINDOW IS SEPARATING FROM THE CONVERTIBLE TOP AND I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL FLY OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND KILL SOMEONE BEHIND ME. I NOTICED THE ISSUE WHILE IT WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. CHRYSLER IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE 2005 MODELS AND IS NOT COVERING ANY REPAIR OF ANY OTHER YEARS, YET HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH CARS FROM EACH YEAR HAVE COMPLAINTS ON MANY INTERNET FORUMS.
I OWN A 2006 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE. MY BACK WINDOW IS FALLING OUT AND IT SEEMS THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE FAULTY ADHESIVE AND FAULTY WORKMANSHIP OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. I CANNOT DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE THE GLASS WILL COME OUT AND RESULT IN HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE, PEDESTRIAN OR OTHER OBJECT. THIS PROBLEM HAS LEFT THOUSANDS OF CROSSFIRE OWNERS IN A BAD SITUATION. CHRYSLER DID ISSUE A RECALL ON THE 2005'S UNDER TSB 23-035-11REVA BUT NOT FOR ANY OTHER MODEL YEARS. STATE FARM INSURANCE INFORMED ME THE SAME TOP/MANUFACTURER/ADHESIVE IS USED ON ALL CROSSFIRE MODEL YEARS THEREFORE IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER AN INSURANCE CLAIM. I'VE DRIVEN MY CAR 3 TIMES SINCE NOTICING THE WINDOW AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO GET WORSE; BECOMING MORE AND MORE OF A SAFETY ISSUE. I WANT TO KNOW WHEN CHRYSLER WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL OF THE FAULTY EQUIPMENT THEY MARKETED AND SOLD TO TRUSTING CONSUMER. I AM ASKING THE NHTSA TO FORCE THE RECALL ON ALL CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE TOPS, NO MATTER WHAT YEAR THEY WERE MANUFACTURED OR WHERE THEY SHIPPED. FAULTY EQUIPMENT IS FAULTY EQUIPMENT AND THE PROBLEM NEEDS TO RECTIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I AM ASKING FOR THE HELP FROM THE NHTSA - THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS - THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT AN ISOLATED CASE. UNTIL THEN, MY CAR IS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN.
THE BACK WINDOW OF THE CROSSFIRE HAS SEPARATED FROM THE TOP. WE SAW THIS WHILE WE WERE WALKING AROUND IT IN GARAGE. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2008 AND IS KEPT IN A GARAGE. I ONLY HAVE 53000 MILES ON IT. I KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOWS FALLING OUT BECAUSE THEY A FIXING THEM IN 2005 MODELS BUT NOT THE 2006 MODELS. IS THERE ANY THING I CAN DO BECAUSE A REPLACEMENT TOP IS VERY EXPENSIVE. WE HAVE HAD THE WINDOW RESEALED TWICE AND IT WILL NOT HOLD.
WINDOW GLASS IS SEPARATING FROM THE FABRIC CONVERTIBLE TOP. I NOTED THIS LAST MONTH WITH THE CAR SITTING AT MY HOUSE. THIS CAR IS ALWAYS GARAGED AND HAS ONLY AROUND 73K MILES, ONE OWNER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE REAR WINDOW IS HEAT SEALED TO THE COVER. ONLY THE TOP PORTION REMAINS SEALED, THE SIDES AND BOTTOM HAVE SEPARATED. I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH A CHRYSLER CASE WORKER FOR A MONTH TRYING TO GET THE COMPANY TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE TOP BUT ONLY GET EMAILS ABOUT ONCE A WEEK REQUESTING THE SAME INFORMATION I HAVE ALREADY PROVIDED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IS NO LONGER A "QUALIFIED DEALERSHIP" WITH NO FURTHER EXPLANATION. I HAVE ASKED FOR A PERSONAL PHONE CALL BUT TO NO AVAIL AT THIS POINT. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD AND I WANT THE COMPANY TO STEP UP AND FIX IT.

BACK WINDOW FELL OFF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. I SEE THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE WITH 2005 (WHICH WAS REPAIRED/RECALL BY THE MFG). DEALER SAID IT WAS UP TO ME TO REPAIR, HAD TO SHIP THE TOP TO CALIFORNIA FOR A COMPLETE NEW TOP (~ $3K). I LIVE IN FLORIDA. DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A BACK WINDOW FALLING OFF A MOVING CAR IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. ONLY ~ 22K MILES.

THEY DENIED RESPONSIBILITY. CLAIMED (1) TSA ONLY APPLIED TO VEHICLES IN SOUTHERN STATES (I PROVIDED THEM WITH A REPAIR ORDER FROM WESTBURY CHRYSLER IN WESTBURY, NEW YORK THAT APPLIED THE TSB & PROVIDED NO CHARGE REPLACEMENT TOP. NEW YORK IS NOT A SOUTHERN STATE); (2) TSA ONLY APPLIED TO 2005 VEHICLES (I PROVIDED THEM INFORMATION WHERE TSB HAD BEEN APPLIED TO A 2008 VEHICLE). REAR GLASS IN CONVERTIBLE TOP HAS SEPARATED FROM THE FABRIC. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES AND IS GARAGE KEPT. VEHICLE IS NOT ABUSED AND TOP HAS ONLY BEEN RETRACTED A TOTAL OF APPROXIMATELY 15 TIMES SO IT CAN NOT EVEN BE ATTRIBUTED TO "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR". THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
REAR GLASS WINDOW ADHESIVE FAILED AND WNDOW IS FALLING OUT. GLASS WINDOW ON CONVERTABLE ROOF IS SEPARATING FROM VINAL. THE WINDOW WILL EVENTIALLY FALL OUT COMPLETELY CAUSING UNSAFE CONDITIONS. CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD NO WARRANTY OR RECALL AND THAT WHOLE CONVERTABLE TOP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR APPROX $2000. THE CAR IS ALWAYS IN A GARAGE AND HAS VERY FEW MILES. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A POOR DESIGN. WINDOW COULD FALL OUT AND CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE OR ACCIDENT.
BACK GLASS IN CONVERTIBLE TOP FALLING OUT
REAR GLASS WINDOW FALLING OUT OF 2006 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTABLE. THE CORNERS OF THE REAR WINDOW STARTED TO SEPARATE FROM THE ROOF MATERIAL. AFTER PUTTING THE TOP DOWN AND PUTTING IT BACK UP, MOST OF THE TOP AND CORNERS OF THE REAR WINDOW WERE LOOSE FROM THE ROOF FABRIC, I CALLED THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT HOW IT COULD BE REPAIRED. THEY TOLD ME THAT A NEW CONVERTIBLE TOP WOULD BE NEEDED. IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. CHRYSLER DEALER QUOTED $1,650 FOR THE TOP AND $1,000 FOR LABOR
