THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BRACKET WAS ALSO COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THE FAILURE WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 01V260000 (SUSPENSION). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD BE REPAIRED, BUT NOT ACCORDING TO THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM CAMBER ON THE FRONT AND REAR TIRES WERE WORN DOWN ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION CAUSING THE TIRES TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED WHERE IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 206,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC ENVOY. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD POP AND CLUNKING NOISE. THE CONTACT CONTINUED DRIVING AND HEARD A DRAGGING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WAS FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 01V126000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SHOCKS WERE LEAKING, CAUSING THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO DROP ONTO THE WHEEL WELL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE AIR LINES. THE AIR LINE REPLACEMENT ONLY REMEDIED THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER OR A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR FURTHER REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
EVERYTHING STARTED APRIL LAST YEAR AND ITS ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER SINCE. FIRST MY ENGINE STARTED STALLING, WHILE DRIVING. ONE INCIDENT, I LOST HALF A TANK OF GAS WITHIN A 15 MINUTE RIDE, WHICH I HAVE A 17 GALLON TANK. THEN WHILE DRIVING ON AN EXPRESSWAY, IT SUDDENLY DROPPED FROM 70 TO 20 BEFORE I COULD GET OVER TWO LANES TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. IVE CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, IVE CLEANED THE CAMSHAFT ACTUATOR, IVE REPLACED THE AIR FILTER, FUEL FILTER, AND THE OIL TWICE WITHIN A 8 MONTH PERIOD, AND YET IT STILL CONTINUES TO STALL. NOW I RECENTLY CHANGE THE WATER PUMP TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP, EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS NOT OVER HEATING, NOW ITS STALLING EVEN WORSE; I CANT EVEN MAKE IT THROUGH A DRIVE THROUGH WITHOUT HAVING TO START IT TWICE. SECOND AND EVEN SCARRIER ISSUE, I HIT POT HOLE ONE DAY AND BEFORE I COULD MAKE 15 MILES, I HEARD GRINDING. A CV JOINT HAD TO BE REPLACED, THEN TWO DAYS AFTER THAT THE OTHER CV JOINT BROKE OFF AND BROKE MY FRONT AXLE DISCONNECT ASSEMBLY. DID I HIT ANYBODY? NO THANK GOD I WAS IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE AND COULD GET OVER WITHOUT HITTING ANYONE OR CAUSING INJURY TO MYSELF. IVE REPLACED BOTH CV JOINTS AND THE ASSEMBLY NOW AND EVEN DID THE STRUTS WHILE I WAS AT IT, BUT HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD I NEED CONTROL ARMS NOW. AND STILL MY CAR IS STALLING, GRINDING WHEN I TURN AND I CANT GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO CLEAR LONG ENOUGH TO GET IT INSPECTED. MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO AND NOW THE CAR IS STARTING TO VIBRATE UNBELIEVABLY. IVE KEPT MY OIL CHANGED, IVE KEPT MY FILTERS CHANGED, IVE NEVER TAKEN THIS THING OFF ROAD AND HAVE HAD IT OVER 7 YEARS AND JUST IN THE LAST YEAR I HAVE DUMPED MORE MONEY IN THIS CAR THAN I HAVE SINCE IVE OWNED IT. *TR
REAR SUSPENSION FROM FACTORY IS A AIRBAG SYSTEM. I FOUND THE REAR OF MY CAR ONE DAY DROPPED TO THE FLOOR. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER AND FOUND MYSELF NOT BEING ABLE TO GO THE SPEED LIMIT CAUSE DRIVING THE VEHICLE DROPPED WAS CAUSING A LOT OF BOUNCING AROUND. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THIS IS NOT A RECALL SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS A ENGINEERING PROBLEM NOT A SERVICE CALL. *TR

A MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED LOCAL DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01V126000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM). THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT DID NOT FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,350.
NOTICED THE SMELL OF GAS. TOOK TO DEALER WHERE PURCHASED. FUEL PUMP WAS FINE, BUT THE TUBE HAD CORRODED. EXTENDED WARRANTY PURCHASED WILL NOT COVER THIS BECAUSE THE PUMP DID NOT FAIL. FAILURE WAS DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD! COST ESTIMATE IS OVER $600.00 TO FIX. HAVE TO REPLACE PUMP ALSO. WHEN REPAIRED, I WILL ASK FOR THE OLD PART. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP FOR REPAIRS MORE THAN ANY ONE I HAVE EVER OWNED. (FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WENT AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME, BUT WERE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY). *JB

THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE COMPONENT WAS RECALLED. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,900.
RECALLS THAT ARE SERIOUSLY AFFECTING THE CAR'S SAFETY THAT CANNOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE SERVICE CALL HAS CLOSED, BUT WAS BOUGHT THAT WAY WITHOUT KNOWING. THE WIPER MOTOR WORKS WHEN IT WANTS ON THE DRIVER SIDE, PREVENTING CLEAR SAFE VISION DURING RAIN, THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE IS STUCK IN 4 WD, THE FRONT SUSPENSION POSSIBLY CRACKED, THE HEADLIGHT DOESN'T FACE STRAIGHT ON THE ROAD, THE AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS DEFECT THAT IF DEPLOYED CAN CAUSE BODILY INJURY TO THE PASSENGER, LICENSE PLATE ONLY WORKS WHEN ITS SLAMMED SHUT, AND HAVE ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRICAL UNDER THE DASH THAT APPARENTLY FAILS TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS NO. 101, "CONTROL LOCATION, IDENTIFICATION, AND ILLUMINATION" AND NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION..BUT YET GM WONT REPAIR IT !!! ALL OF THESE ARE PRIOR RECALLS, BUT BECAUSE I WASN'T THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND DIDN'T TAKE THE CAR IN WHEN THEY WERE FIRST ANNOUNCED, GM REFUSES TO MAKE MY ENVOY SAFE FROM CAUSING ME OR MY KIDS HARM. BECAUSE THE FIRST OWNER DIDN'T DO IT, OR BECAUSE ITS TOO LATE. IF A YEAR MAKE AND MODEL OF A CAR HAS A RECALL, WHY DOES IT MATTER WHEN THE ISSUE SURFACES, ITS OBVIOUSLY A CAUSE FOR CONCERN, WHY NOT REPAIR IT? *TR
I HAVE HAD A INTERMITTENT RUMBLING SOUND IN THE DRIVERS COMPARTMENT LIKE THE DOORS ARE NOT CLOSED PROPERLY. I HAVE CHECKED DOORS CLOSED BUT YET IT STILL HAPPENS. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. THE FUEL GAUGE IS READING INCORRECTLY, AT A HALF A TANK OF FUEL THE GAS HAND WILL INTERMITTENTLY MOVE UP OR DOWN. ALSO NOV. 2006 A HIGH PITCH SQUEAL FROM THE FRONT OF VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 1 AND 40 MPH. *JB

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH PULLING A 3000 LB. BOAT AND TRAILER. I FELT SOMETHING CHANGE IN THE FRONT END AS THOUGH THE ALIGNMENT CHANGED AS I WAS DRIVING. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY, AND AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES A VERY LOUD POP CAME FROM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL WELL. UPON INVESTIGATION I FOUND THAT THE UPPER BALL JOINT HAD COMPLETELY SEPARTATED FROM THE UPPER CONTROL ARM. THIS APPARENTLY OCCURRED AFTER THE BOLT THAT SECURES THE BALL JOINT IN THE UPPER CONTROL ARM EITHER SHEARED, FELL OUT, OR WAS NEVER THERE BEFORE THE INCIDENT. THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO DAMAGE, AND THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AWAITING PARTS. MORE SPECIFICALLY, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE REPLACING THE UPPER CONTROL ARM AND UPPER BALL JOINT.
WHILE TURNING LEFT AT 1 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE. FRONT WHEEL SEPARATED FROM SUSPENSION AXLE, AND ARM AND BALL JOINTS DISCONNECTED FROM THE VEHICLE. DEALER REFUSED TO ADMIT THERE WERE DEFECTS IN THIS VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH VEHICLE BEGAN TO WOBBLE AND PULLED HARD TO THE LEFT. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED BUT NO WORK WAS DONE. THE CONSUMER WROTE LETTERS MADE COMPLAINTS. EVEN SUGGESTED TO BE FULLY REFUNDED FOR THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP LACK OF CONCERN CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO GO TO ANOTHER SERVICE DEALER AND PAID $63.15 FOR REPAIRS. *NLM *CB
