2006 GMC SIENNA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFTER STICKS/ GRINDS WHEN CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD TROUBLE SHIFTING THE FIVE SPEED TRANSMISSION FROM THE TIME, HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD STICK IN GEAR WHEN SHIFTING, MOVE WITH THE CLUTCH DEPRESSED WHEN HE STARTED IT IN GEAR, AND SCRAPE WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. OVERALL, THE CLUTCH WAS NOT DISENGAGING/ THE DEALER CLAIMED THE VEHICLE WAS SELF-ADJUSTING AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. WE WERE IN A STORAGE FACILITY PARKING OUR CAMPER WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY GMC TRUCK...I LEFT IT RUNNING IN PARK BECAUSE IT WAS SO HOT OUTSIDE...WHILE I DIRECTED MY BROTHER TO PUT THE CAMPER IN PLACE WITH HIS VEHICLE. THIS TOOK APPROX. 20-30 MINUTES WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TRUCK IS GOING IN REVERSE ALL ON ITS OWN RUNNING INTO SOME BOATS THAT WERE STORED THERE. WTH!! MY TRUCK GOT REAR END DAMAGE,BUMPER DAMAGE,LIGHT BROKEN AND MY TOPPER WAS MESSED UP AS WELL....ALONG WITH THE BOAT TRAILERS THAT IT HIT! WAS THERE ANY RECALL WITH THIS PROBLEM? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN UNKNOWN SUBSTANCE LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND HAD HOLES CAUSING IT TO POTENTIALLY FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP. AT TIMES, I HAD TO STOP THE TRUCK AND PUT IN PARK BEFORE IT WOULD ENGAGE IN DRIVE. FINALLY IT LOST ALL BUT 1ST GEAR. TOOK TO DEALER AND TORQUE CONVERTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. GMC MADE ME PAY HALF THE $3200 REPAIR. I DO NOT LIVE IN A COLD CLIMATE. A HEAVY DUTY TRUCK SHOULD NOT BE LOSING THE TRANSMISSION AT LESS THAN 50,000 MILES!
I OWN A 2006 GMC SIERRA. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A RELATIVE (70 YEAR OLD WOMAN) AND IT HAS 22,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE JUST HAD A MECHANICAL ISSUE BEGIN. WHEN SLOWING THE VEHICLE TO APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABS ACTIVATES AND THE TRUCK THRUSTS FORWARD. I WAS ADVISED BY A MECHANIC THAT THIS IS A FAILURE OF BOTH FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES. BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE HAS SO FEW MILES ON IT I BEGAN LOOKING ON LINE FOR RECALL INFORMATION. I AM SHOCK HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS AROUND 20,000 MILES, SOME RESULTING IN CRASHES. I ALSO LEARNED THAT THE COMPANY THAT MANUFACTURES THE HUB ASSEMBLIES HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE PARTS UNLESS IT WAS INSTALLED BY THE FACTORY (GM). THIS ISN'T RIGHT AND SOMEONE WILL GET INJURED BADLY. GM SHOULD RECALL THE VEHICLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS OR SITTING IDLE IN PARK, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SWITCH WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ACTIVATE AND INDEPENDENTLY SHIFT INTO LOW DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE MODULE IN THE TRANSFER CASE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 3500. WHILE EXAMINING THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 44000.
WE WERE ON VACATION IN ALABAMA AND OUR 2006 GMC SIERRA TRUCK WITH 62,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP WE PULLED OVER AND CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, IT WAS FINE. SO WE CONTINUED ON UNTIL WE GOT TO THE NEXT TOWN. TILLSMAN CORNER. WE WENT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY BURNT UP. WE CALLED GMC AND THEY SAID THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE DRIVE TRAIN WAS ONLY 36,000 MILES. WHEN WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE THEY WERE TELLING US IT WAS 7 YEARS, 70,000 MILES ON THE DRIVE TRAIN. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A NON-LEVELED SURFACE, IT ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO A RIVER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AFTER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT CONCLUDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE ITSELF INTO PARK, WHICH ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE. I HAVE A 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500 WITH THE LBZ DURAMAX AND ALLISON TRANSMISSION. TWO OF THE TRANSMISSION COOLANT LINES BEGAN LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID AT THE CRIMP ENDS IN MARCH OF 2009. THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 32,000 MILES, BUT WAS 3 MONTHS BEYOND THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY PERIOD. SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY WAS DENIED. AN ON-LINE SEARCH REVEALS SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THAT THE DEALER INSTALLED OEM REPLACEMENT LINES ARE NO BETTER (DEVELOPING LEAKS SOON AFTER REPLACEMENT), YET NO TSB OR CORRECTIVE ACTION HAS BEEN ISSUED BY GM. LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID IS A FIRE AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. THE LEAKS ARE GETTING WORSE. *TR
I AM THE SHOP FOREMAN FOR A CONSTRUCTION COMPANY IN ALASKA. I DROPPED OFF A 2006 GMC 2500 PICKUP LAST WEEK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A LEAK LOOKED AT. I GOT A CALL BACK FROM THEM SAYING MY TORQUE CONVERTER WAS BLOWN. THEY SAID GMC IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ALLISON TRANSMISSION AT COLD TEMPS (CAMPAIGN # 07293) I HAD THIS TRUCK IN AT 25000 MILES TO BE RE-PROGRAMMED AND AGAIN AT 49000 MILES. NOW, AT 58,000 MILES THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS BLOWN AND AFTER ARGUING WITH GMC, THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY THE WORK, THEY WANT ME TO PAY HALF OF THE 3200. I DROVE UP IN OUT COMPANY'S BRAND NEW '08 GMC 3500, HAD THE DEALERS MECHANIC LOOK AT IT. HE SNIFFED THE TRANNY DIPSTICK, GRIMMANCED, AND SAID THAT IT TOO WAS BLOWN. AT 4120 MILES, ANOTHER BLOWN TORQUE CONVERTER. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID 17 TRUCKS SO FAR IN FAIRBANKS ALASKA HAVE SUFFERED SIMILAR FATES, DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURER ERROR. I AM LIVID, TO SAY THE LEAST! GMC NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS, AND OWNERS NEED TO BE CONTACTED AND TOLD THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM! THERE IS A SAFETY ANGLE AS WELL, ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC--AT A STOP LIGHT, THE TORQUE CONVERTER WENT OUT, LOCKED UP, AND PUSHED THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE LIGHT! *TR
I OWN A 2006 GMC 2500HD DURAMAX/ALLISON CREW CAB. I TOOK OWNERSHIP IN FEB OF 2007 WITH 32K MILES. TRANSMISSION LINES WERE LEAKING AT THAT TIME. DEALER REPLACED THE LINES UNDER WARRANTY. NOW AT 100K MILES AND SAME "NEW" LINES ARE LEAKING ONCE AGAIN. THIS IS A FLAMMABLE FLUID AND CONSTITUTES A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500. THE CONTACT HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE WITH THE WRONG HYDRAULIC FLUID IN THE CLUTCH SYSTEM. THIS COULD CAUSE THE CLUTCH TO FAIL WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSES THE CLUTCH PEDAL, IT DOES NOT ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. THE CLUTCH AND ALL THE HYDRAULIC PARTS WERE REPLACED MORE THAN ONCE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. HE CALLED GMC AND WAS INFORMED THAT ALL THE VEHICLES WERE MADE WITH THE INCORRECT FLUID. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
WENT TO GMC DEALER BECAUSE TRUCK HAS A TRANSMISSION OIL LEAK. TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT ALL THREE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE ARE LEAKING. ACCORDING TO INTERNET FORUM (HTTP://DIESELPLACE.COM/FORUM/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?T=202078), THIS IS A KNOW DEFECT ON THE 2006 SILVERADO AND SIERRA TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH DIESEL ENGINE AND ALLISON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. SEVERAL OWNERS HAVE HAD 2 OR MORE INCIDENTS. REPLACEMENT LINES ARE NO BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS. I AM AN ENGINEER AND HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN VEHICLE FIRE INVESTIGATIONS IN THE PAST, SOME WERE CAUSED BY LEAKING TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES DRIPPING ON HOT EXHAUST PIPES AND MANIFOLDS. THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD! THIS REQUIRES A NEW DESIGN FOR THESE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES. *TR

TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID AT AN ALUMINUM CRIMP THAT CONNECTS A RUBBER HOSE TO THE TRANSMISSION COOLER; AN INFERIOR DESIGN. AS SUCH, A TRANSMISSION OIL LEAK IS A FIRE HAZARD. I AM AWARE OF TWO CAR FIRES THAT WERE CAUSED BY LEAKING TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES. THE LAST ONE INVOLVED A FORD TAURUS STATION WAGON WHERE THE OWNER HAD THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT BY HIS LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP (A NATIONAL FRANCHISE TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP) AND THEY CROSS-THREADED THE LOWER COOLER LINE AT THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED ON TO THE EXHAUST CROSS-OVER PIPE AND THE CAR BURNED TO THE GROUND ON THE SIDE OF ROAD IN THE INTERSTATE. THE OWNER'S INSURANCE COMPANY SUBROGATED AGAINST THE TRANSMISSION SHOP FOR THE DAMAGES. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE GOT HURT, BUT THEY CAME CLOSE. *TR
