MY PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BROKE AND WENT SIDEWAYS WHEN I TURN OFF THE HIGHWAY IN MONTZUMA ONLY GOING ABOUT 30MPH
I WAKE UP EARLY ON SUNDAY, ON 11/16/15 AND TOOK A COMPANY TRUCK A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500, TO BRING SOME CARGO. ON MY WAY BACK HOME ON 836 WEST EXPRESSWAY, I TOOK MY EXIT AND WHEN PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO REDUCE SPEED, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR OF THE CAR AND THE BRAKE ACTION WAS MINIMUM TO NOTHING. ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS STOP AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT, AND TO AVOID THE OBVIOUS IMPACT TO THE STOPPED CAR, I PUMPED THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES AND APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKES AT APPROX. 30 MPH. SEEING NO WAY TO AVOID THE COLLISION, I PULL THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HIT A CONCRETE WATER DRAIN, RESULTING IN ABRUPTLY SOPPING OF MY CAR AND MY KNEE HIT THE LOWER DASHBOARD. THE GUY OF THE OTHER CAR WENT OUT AND ASK ME, ARE YOU "DRUNK" "ARE YOU OK" I CALLED A FLATBED AND BRING MY TRUCK TO MY WORK PLACE AND THEN NOTICE THAT A BRAKE LINE WAS BROKE AND MOST OF THE BRAKE FLUID SPILLED ALL OVER THE FRONT OF THE CHASSIS, UNDER THE RADIATOR. THE BRAKE LINE WAS INCREDIBLE RUSTED, REASON FOR THE BRAKE DOWN, I HAD CARS WITH A LOT MORE YEARS WITH NO PROBLEM WITH BRAKE LINES. WHEN I INSPECT THE OTHER BRAKE LINES DEEPLY, NOTICED THAT AN EXCESSIVE CORROSION WAS IN ALL OF THEM. GMC SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, SAFETY ISSUE, IS NO REASON FOR A 2006, ONLY 8 YEARS VEHICLE, PRESENT THAT LEVEL OF CORROSION ON BRAKE LINES. "COKE CAN THICKNESS APPARENTLY" . SOMEBODY WILL DIE OR SERIOUSLY INJURE, OR WILL KILL SOMEBODY, PEDESTRIAN OR DRIVER BECAUSE THE SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE IN A CASE LIKE THIS. I WILL BRING THE VEHICLE TO A GARAGE TO REPLACE THE BROKEN LINE AND PROBABLY ALL OF THEM.. ITS RIDICULOUS, AND VERY DANGEROUS THAT THIS THINGS HAPPENS IN A VEHICLE THAT AGE. I REALLY APPRECIATE TO BRING THIS CASE TO THE PROPER ATTENTION OF THE MANUFACTURER IN ORDER TO AVOID MORE INCIDENTS LIKE MINE.I CONSIDER MYSELF VERY LUCKY,.COULD NOT BE WRITING THIS IF THIS HAPPENS TO ME AT A HIGH SPEED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500 EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK DYNAPRO TIRES SIZE LT 265/70 R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE WAS A BULGE IN THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE'S SIDEWALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,800. THE DOT NUMBER AND VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
FIRESTONE DESTINATION A/T LT285/75R16 TIRES - CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF TIRE WHILE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH IN MIDDLE LANE OF THREE LANE HWY. NO PUNCTURE. SIDE WALL BLEW OUT . TIRES HAD ONLY 15,000 MILES. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT AND DAMAGED THE REAR SQUARE PANEL AND WHEEL WELL OF THE TIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO PREVENT THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE TIRES HAD PLENTY OF TREAD AND THE TIME OF THE BLOW OUT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

THIS WAS A SNAP-IN RUBBER STEM. I BELIEVE THE TIRES ON A TRUCK OF THIS SIZE (GMC 2500HD) AND WITH THIS AIR PRESSURE (80 PSI REAR, 55 FRONT) SHOULD HAVE STEEL CLAMP-IN TYPE STEMS. *TR
PURCHASED A NEW GMC TRUCK VALUED AT $40,000 AT 38,000 MILES THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILED AND AT 48,000 MILES PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILED. SEEMS TO BE THAT DEFECTIVE PARTS ARE BEING INSTALLED ON TRUCKS AT ASSEMBLY. WHEN PASSENGER SIDE FAILED ALSO RUINED BRAKE ROTOR. CONTINUED ON TRIP, PARKED FOR THE NIGHT. APPROX. 70 MORE MILES INTO TRIP OTHER REAR TIRE SEPARATED AND WENT FLAT, CAUSING DAMAGE TO OTHER SIDE OF PICKUP WHEEL WELL. CALLED AAA TOW TO TIRE STORE FOR A NEW SET OF FOUR. PICKUP IS AN GMC 2500 HD, 2006. BETWEEN THE TWO SEPARATIONS APPROX. 6500.00 DOLLARS DAMAGE. *TR
GENERAL AMERITRAC TIRES ON A 2006 GMC SIERRA CREW CAB 2WD ARE SHOWING EXCESSIVE WEAR AND TREAD LOSS. THE TIRES HAVE ONLY 24000 MILES AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. DURING A RECENT RAINSTORM I WAS HYDROPLANING ON THE FREEWAY. THE TIRES HAVE HARDLY ANY TREAD LEFT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT TIRES. THE TIRES WILL BE REPLACED IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR IDENTICAL FAILURES, BUT THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE LOUD NOISE WAS NORMAL. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF HIS VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07E106000 (WHEELS:CAP/COVER/HUB). CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

THIS CONCERNS AN GENERAL TIRE P245/70R17. THIS TIRE WAS ON MY GMC SIERRA PICK-UP TRUCK. THESE TIRES CAME WITH THE TRUCK. WITHIN A MONTH OF OWNING THIS TRUCK THE TREAD TORE AWAY FROM THE TIRE LEAVING LARGE HOLES THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THOSE TIRES IN 2006. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED JUNE 23, 2007. THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. IT ONLY HAD 17600 MILES ON THE TIRE. THE INCIDENT LED ME TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DAMAGE TO THE RIM AS I TRIED TO PULL OVER. THE DEALERSHIP SAID GENERAL WOULD NOT REPLACE THIS TIRE BECAUSE THIS CAN HAPPEN AND IS A RISK YOU TAKE, I DISAGREE. IF THIS HAD BEEN ON THE FRONT TIRE I HAVE NO DOUBT I WOULD OF EITHER CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR LOST TOTAL CONTROL. *AK
I WAS DRIVING DOWN AIRLINE HWY NORTH BOUND BEFORE PEQUE LANE RIGHT BY GOLF COURSE AT BRIDGE THE ROAD IS NOT REALLY A POT HOLE BUT ROAD IS VERY DISTORTED AND THE WAY I HIT IT, IT PUT A BIG EGG AND SPLIT IN MY TIRE. THIS IS AN AREA WERE IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR AWHILE AND IF YOU HIT THAT SPOT IT WILL MESS YOUR CAR UP OR MAKE IT HARD TO CONTROL YOUR CAR. THE TIRES I OWN ARE VERY HIGH PRICED AND I PURCHASED NOT TO LONG AGO. I WOULD LIKE HELP IN REPLACING THE TIRE. I DID GO BACK AND TAKE PICTURES OF THE AREA IN WITCH I HIT TO CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN TO THE TIRE. THE TIRES ARE $700 TO $800 EACH BUT ONLY ONE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS DAMAGED. I WILL HAVE TO ORDER IT. *JB
ACCORDING TO THE DISTRICT DISTRIBUTOR REPRESENTATIVE FOR FIRESTONE HE SAID THE TERM "STONE CHIPPING" IS WHAT'S HAPPENING TO SOME OF THEIR TIRES. WHEN I LOOK AT MY TIRE, I SEE CHIPS OF RUBBER COMING OUT OF THE TIRE EVEN IN THE TREAD. *JB
MY TIRES STARTED FALLING APART AROUND 11000 MILES. THE SIDEWALLS ARE INDENTING AND THE TREAD IS COMING OFF THE TIRE AS WELL AS EXTREME FEATHERING. THE DEALER HAS TESTED THE ALIGNMENT AND BALANCE. I CURRENTLY HAVE 13000 ON MY TRUCK AND FINALLY GOT THE DEALER TO REPLACE THEM BUT ONLY WITH THE SAME BRAND OF TIRE. *NM
