THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER PRECISION CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (1341 ROUTE 23 SOUTH, BUTLER, NJ 07405,(973) 838-6808) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,984
AFTER DOING WUITE ALOT OF RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THE 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEEROKEES HAVE A KNOWN STALLING PROBLEM THAT CANNOT BE EXPLAINED. THESE VEHICLES STALL WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES TO FAIL. CREATING A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. EVERY COMPLAINT I HAVE SEEN STATES THAT THE OWNERS HAVE SUNK LOTS OF MONEY AND REPLACED SEVERAL PARTS ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM RETURN TIME AND TIME AGAIN. WHY HAS THIS STALLING ISSUE NEVER BEEN ADDRESSED, AND JEEP HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE REPAIRS? I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINS ALL OVER THE INTERNET DESCRIBING THIS SAME STALLING HAZARD.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD HISSING SOUND. NOTICED IT WAS A MANIFOLD LEAK AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION NOTICED TWO BOLTS WERE BROKE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, LEFT SIDE OF THE MOTOR BY THE FIREWALL. THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO REMOVE THESE BROKEN BOLTS OTHER THAN PULLING THE MOTOR. NO MECHANIC WILL TOUCH IT. THEREFORE LEAVING THE COST ON THE CONSUMER. THE GRADE OF THE BOLTS ARE VERY POOR. THEY KNEW THE 4.7 V8 MOTOR WOULD NOT HAVE ENOUGH SPACE FOR THE CONSUMER TO FIX THESE ISSUES. LEAVING THE CONSUMER TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX THEIR MISTAKE IT IS NOT SAFE IT IS NOT FAIR. NOW THE CONSUMER HAS TO WORRY THAT'S EXCESSIVE HEAT THAT ESCAPED OUT THE MANIFOLD DUE TO THE BROKEN BOLTS DOESN'T CATCH ANYTHING ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD WHILE DRIVING POSSIBLY INJURING OR FATALLY INJURING THE PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS OTHERS DRIVING ON THE ROAD. I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THERE MISTAKE. THESE BOLTS SHOULD NOT BREAK OFF WITHIN 100,000 MILES IT IS A HAZARD TO THE DRIVER THERE OCCUPANTS I FEEL THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL. IT'S ONE THING IF YOU JUST DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT IT'S ANOTHER THING IF YOU DO AND THERE'S NO POSSIBLE SOLUTION THAT'S NOT WHAT I PAID FOR NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT I DON'T FEEL SAFE I CAN'T TRADE IT IN OR SELL IT BECAUSE YOU CAN HEAR IT NOW I'M STUCK WITH DRIVING IT FOR ANOTHER COUPLE THOUSAND MILES AND BE OUT OF THE VEHICLE ON THEIR BEHALF.
THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL FOR THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - RECALL D-13. IT IS LISTED THAT IT EXISTS IN SOME 2004 MODEL YEAR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 4.0L ENGINE. CHRYSLER SAID MY VIN IS NOT ONE OF THE VEHICLES THAT HAD THE RECALL. THEY INDICATED THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR VEHICLES BUILT 12/16/03-2/6/04. CHRYSLER SAID MY VEHICLE BUILT 0M 4/24/2004. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE THIS PART MALFUNCTIONED ON MY VEHICLE AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT AND BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD GET REIMBURSED BY CHRYSLER. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

I SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2000-2002 JEEP CHEROKEE VEHICLES WITH THE ELECTRIC RADIATOR FAN. I AM WONDERING IF THAT RECALL OR PROBLEM EXTENDED TO THE 2004 MODEL AS WELL. EVERY YEAR SINCE I PURCHASE MY JEEP, USED, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR. FOR SOME REASON, IT OVERHEATS AND ALL OF THE COOLANT RUNS OUT. 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND UNCOMMANDED THROTTLE PEDAL MOVEMENT. CAR WAS IN DRIVE AT A STANDSTILL ON A SLIGHT GRADE, DRY PAVEMENT. THROTTLE TOOK OFF UNCOMMANDED. DRIVERS FOOT CENTERED ON BRAKE PEDAL. DRIVER NOTICED THROTTLE PEDAL WAS MOVING UNCOMMANDED. PEDAL APPEARED DEPRESSED ABOUT AN INCH THEN RETURNED TO IDLE POSITION THEN BACK DOWN ABOUT AN INCH. AFTER A FEW SECONDS THROTTLE PEDAL RETURNED TO IDLE POSITION. BRAKE HELD BACK ANY VEHICLE MOVEMENT DURING EPISODE. CRUISE CONTROL WAS OFF. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THIS ISSUE OCCURRED. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE DEFECT. *TR
THERE ARE TWO ISSUES, ONE BEING THE ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE DYING ONCE THE VEHICLE IS PUT INTO A FORWARD OR REVERSE POSITION FROM EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE POSITION. SECOND IS THE ISSUE OF THE VEHICLE SURGING FORWARD JUST PRIOR TO STOPPING. THE ENGINE WILL REV UP JUST PRIOR TO STOPPING AND START A HARD BUT LOAD RUMBLING DUE TO THE BRAKES BEING HELD AND THE VEHICLE WANTING TO DRIVE FORWARD. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY REPAIR SHOP TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE, AND IT IS VERY WEARING OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS ISSUE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.

THE TECHNICIANS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE OIL PAN COULD RUPTURE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THAT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

WHILE PARALLEL PARKING, WITH MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, I SHIFTED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OUT OF REVERSE. IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE RAPIDLY REVVED UP AND LURCHED FORWARD. I PRESSED MORE FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE, CAUSING THE CAR (A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE) AND MOTOR TO PAUSE, THEN THE MOTOR RAPIDLY REVVED UP AGAIN, OVERCOMING BRAKING. HORRIFIED, AND UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR, I WATCHED AS THE CAR RACED INTO THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE IMPACT, THE ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL IDLE. I THEN CHECKED THE CAR: CRUISE CONTROL WAS OFF, MY HANDS WERE STILL GRIPPING THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL LEVERAGE FOR MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, MY RIGHT FOOT WAS STILL FIRMLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NOT NEAR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO ITS BUMPER AND TAILGATE. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE, THE FIRST TWO OF WHICH WERE REPORTED TO YOU EARLIER.
