YOU DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD FINE AND THEN HIT A SMALL BUMP AND THE FRONT END SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY AT ANY SPEED. *YOU LOOSE CONTROL OF STEERING DUE TO THE SHAKING! OTHER ISSUE IS THE CRUISE CONTROLLER KICKS ON AND THE RPM SPIKES TO RED ZONNNNE THE ONLY WAY TO DISENGAGE IT IS TO TURN VEHICLE OFF THEN BACK ON!!!
MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE ALL THE TIME CRUISE CONTROL AUTOMATICALLY KICKS ON AND OFF I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHAT CAUSES THE JEEP TO IDLE EVEN AFTER I HIT THE CANCEL BUTTON. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY ACCELERATED WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL. THE CONTACT HAD TO EITHER APPLY EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE OR PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL TO STOP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A CALL BACK. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" MY DRIVER'S SEAT HAS BEEN REPLACE ONCE, AT MY OWN EXPENSE, DUE THE SEAT BECOMING EXTREMELY "WOBBLY" AND BEING BROKEN FROM THE BEASE FRAME AND FRAME UNDER SEAT. I WAS ON HIGHWAY DRIVING WHEN THE SEAT FIRST BECAME SLIGHTLY UNSTABLE, HAD I UNFORNATUNATELY BEEN STRUCK FROM THE REAR, I WOULD'VE BEEN VIOLENTLY THROWN FORWARD. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS MATTER AND FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR THE 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO WJ, YET I FOUND NOTHING ON THIS SITE. IT COSTS ME $600, WHICH IS A LOT FOR A DISABLED VETERAN. BUT MY SAFETY COMES FIRST. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V673000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A POWER LOSS EXCEPT FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL MY SPEED AND LOST POWER STEERING. AFTER 5 SECONDS, WHILE COASTING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE RESUMED FULL POWER. SINCE THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, IT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT (UP TO TWICE A WEEK). IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START RANDOMLY AND REQUIRES A FEW MINUTES WAIT TIME BEFORE A SUCCESSFUL START. *TR

(RELATING TO THE DRIVER-SIDE SEAT ONLY) MY DAUGHTER AND I WAS WAITING AT A TRAFFIC STOP, (I WAS DRIVING) WHEN THE LIGHT TURN GREEN I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND MY ENTIRE SEAT INCLUDING MYSELF SWUNG BACK. BECAUSE OF THE BACKWARD MOMENTUM, IT CAUSES ME TO ABRUPTLY PRESS FURTHER ON THE ACCELERATOR. I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND PULL ON THE SIDE TO INSPECT THE SEAT. I FOUND THAT THE TWO FRONT BRACKETS UNDER THE SEAT HAD BROKEN OFF. SINCE I HAD ADJUSTABLE POWER SEAT, I LOWER THE SEAT TO ALIGN THE BROKEN BRACKETS TO WEDGE UNDER THE BAR CAUSING THE SEAT TO STABILIZE OR AT LEAST HOLD IN A SEMI-SOLID POSITION. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I ARGUED THAT THIS IS AN UNUSUAL INCIDENT WHERE I HAVE NEVER HEARD THAT THE DRIVER-SIDE SEAT BRACKETS WOULD BREAK OFF AND POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. ESPECIALLY FOR A JEEP, THIS VEHICLE IS MEANT TO BE DRIVEN ON AND OFF ROAD. AGAIN, THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SHOULD BE ADDRESS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED. *TR
THIS IS HORRIBLE AND I WAS SCARED. BUT I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY UP MY STREET AND IT STARTED TO RACE, I WAS TRYING TO BRAKE AS I TURNED IN MY PARKING SPACE MY CAR WAS STILL RACING AND WOULDN'T BRAKE AND I ENDED UP DRIVING INTO MY PROPERTY, IT SEEMED TO ACCELERATE AS I KEPT BRAKING AND UP THE STEPS THE CAR WENT AND THE CAR THEN STOPPED INCHES FROM MY DOOR. IT WAS RACING AS I WAS BRAKING AND IT WOULD STOP NOT UNTIL IT HIT THE PORCH STEP. IT WAS HORRIBLE, THIS CAR HAS NEVER LAUNCHED LIKE A ROCKET. IT WAS LIKE IT MAGICALLY ACCELERATED. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR YEARS AND KEEP IT MAINTAINED. I SEE THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ABOUT THIS, WHY DID I NOT GET A CARD. I AM GLAD I OR ANYBODY DID NOT GET HURT. JEEP IS IN SHOP. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,500.

2004 GRAND CHEROKEE SPECIAL EDITION. STICKING GAS PEDAL, BOTH ACCELERATION AND TO ACCELERATE. TODAY MY GAS PEDAL STUCK WIDE OPEN FULL THROTTLE. I HAD TO PRESS AS HARD AS POSSIBLE ON BRAKES ... CAR DIS NOT COMPLETELY STOP UNTIL I THREW THE MOVING VEHICLE INTO PARK AND TURN THE KEY OFF. IT REMAINED STUCK WIDE OPEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AND THEN UNSTUCK. I HAD 4 CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED ON AN EMPTY WIDE OPEN ROAD. THIS COULD GAVE BEEN A CATASTROPHIC EVENT WITH MANY INJURIES. *TR
