My airbag light on the dash board comes on and will not go away. I have had it twice reset and it does NOT go away. I was told that Jeep recalled their models but I cannot find a recall for the Patriot model. Why would all of their other models be recalled and not the Patriot? Does not make sense. 2008 Jeep Patriot.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN TURNING ON AND OFF FOR OVER A YEAR. I HAD IT CHECKED OUT WHEN IT FIRST CAME ON AND THEY WANTED OVER $600 TO FIX THE CLOCK SPRING. DUE TO NOT HAVING FUNDS TO FIX IT, IT'S STILL UNDERGOING. THE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF ALL THROUGHOUT THE COURSE OF DRIVING. I HAVE READ SEVERAL REVIEWS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES FOR YEARS NOW SO WHY HASN'T IT BEEN RECALLED YET.
MY AIRBAG HAS BEEN ON FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW AND I CALLED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP CLOSEST TO ME AND THEY SAID THAT MINE SPECIFICALLY IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE PAYING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS WHEN MORE THAN ONE MODEL IS AFFECTED AND I HAVE NOT GOTTEN IT FIXED YET DUE TO NOT HAVING THE FUNDS. IT GOES ON AND OFF THROUGHOUT THE DRIVE. IT WILL ALWAYS COME ON WHEN I START THE JEEP AND THEN SOMETIMES IT FLASHES ON AND OFF AND THEN GOES OFF FOR A MILE AND COMES BACK ON.THE CODE COMING UP ON OUR READER IS A BAD SPRING.
I START HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY AIRBAG IN MY JEEP LAST YEAR. I TOOK MY JEEP INTO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER LAST YEAR. THE DEAL STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG. THE DEAL THAT I'M HAVING IS THAT SOMETIMES THE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND I SEE THAT THEIR IS A RECALL ON THIS NAME BRAND AIRBAG FOR THIS VEHICLE. I'M ASKING COULD YOU PLEASE ADD MY VEHICLE VIN NUMBER TO YOUR RECALL LIST THANK YOU.
CLOCK SPRING DEFECTIVE AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY ACCORDING TO INTERNAL LIGHT DUE TO DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING. CLOCK SPRING WAS EXTENDED COVERAGE ON JEEP WRANGLER, BUT NOT PATRIOT.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME UP AND A MECHANIC WITH LICENSE TOLD ME THAT; THAT MAIN SENSOR ALONG SIDE THE STEERING TUBE DID NOT WORK AND IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT FUNCTION. TELL ME IF THE MAKER IS OR NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEM I'M FACING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT.WHILE STRAPPING A SAFETY SEAT INSIDE THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE THREAD ON THE CENTER SEAT BELT WAS FAILING. ALSO, THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS SPLITTING IN TWO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CENTER SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,898.
THE 2008 JEEP PATRIOT SPORT WITH 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WAS PURCHASED IN MAY 2015. SHORTLY THEREAFTER I NOTICED THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY COME ON, DING AND GO OFF WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. THINKING IT WAS JUST A LOOSE CONNECTION, I WIGGLED AND JIGGLED EVERY WIRE AND CONNECTION THOUGHT TO BE RELATED TO THE AIRBAG SYSTEM TO NO AVAIL. ON AUGUST 18, 2015 I BROUGHT IT INTO A VERY TRUSTWORTHY INDEPENDENT SERVICE GARAGE SPECIALIZING IN AUTO ELECTRIC ISSUES. THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED A BAD CLOCK SPRING WHICH WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG WAS ALSO BAD. CONSIDERING THE IMPORTANCE OF A FULLY FUNCTIONING AIRBAG SYSTEM, THE VEHICLE'S RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE AND LIGHT, ACCIDENT FREE USE THIS HAS HAD, I THINK THE DEFECTIVE (AND EXPENSIVE) PARTS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED FACTORY WARRANTY. THESE SHOULD NOT BE FAILING LIKE THIS UNLESS THEY ARE DEFECTIVE OR POORLY DESIGNED.

RECENTLY THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED INTERMITTENTLY FLASHING AND CHIMING AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD THAT DONE AT A COST OF $614. THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND THERE IS NO REASON FOR A SAFETY DEVICE LIKE ITS AIRBAGS TO HAVE A PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD BE PAYING FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE CLOCK SPRING. *TR
I BOUGHT MY JEEP TO BE A SAFE FAMILY VEHICLE AND INSTEAD I WORRY EVERY TIME I GET BEHIND THE WHEEL BECAUSE I BUCKLE MY SEAT. I HAVE BEEN IN A HEAD ON COLLISION BEFORE IN A JEEP WRANGLER AND WAS FORTUNATE TO BE OKAY, NOW THIS VEHICLE'S SEATBELT UNBUCKLES ITSELF DURING DRIVING, AND WHEN PRESSURE IS BEING APPLIED. I KNOW THAT IT IS NOT "USER ERROR" BECAUSE IT HAPPENS TO EVERY PERSON WHO HAS DRIVEN MY PATRIOT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, BOTH FRONT SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT A COLLISION. THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED EARLIER IN THE DAY PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRONIC FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 38,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT CAME OFF FROM ITS MOUNT THE BOLT HAD FALLEN OUT. THE SUNROOF HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPLACED BY THE DEALER AND I SUSPECT THEY HAD REMOVED THE SEAT BELT MOUNTING BOLT TO REMOVE HEADLINER, INSPECTION OF THE BOLT SHOW NO APPLICATION OF THREADLOCKER. I REINSTALLED THE BOLT WITH THREADLOCKER AND TORQUED AS PER SPEC FOR THE BOLT SIZE. *TR
