I HAVE A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES AND THIS SPRING I'VE HAD TO REPLACE TWO CRACKED/FAULTY TPMS UNITS - AT SEPARATE TIMES. BOTH INCIDENTS WERE DISCOVERED DUE TO LOW PSI, A LEAKY VALVE STEM AND FLAT TIRES. ANY SINGLE REPAIR COULD BE WRITTEN OFF AS COINCIDENCE, BUT TWO OUT OF FOUR TIRES IS DISCONCERTING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE BECAME FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS ADVISED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE VALVES STEMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ON ALL FOUR TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,000. *TR
TIRE VALVE STEM BROKE WHILE THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS BEING CHECKED. THIS OCCURRED DURING AN OIL CHANGE SERVICE. THE BROKEN VALVE STEM/TPMS SENSOR REQUIRED MY COMPANY TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. I AM FILING THIS CLAIM ON BEHALF OF OUR CUSTOMER.
TPMS VALVE STEM BROKE DURING THE CHECK AND INFLATION OF A CUSTOMER'S VEHICLE. THE BROKEN VALVE STEM RESULTED IN A LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE REQUIRING IMMEDIATE REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VALVE STEMS ON THE REAR AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRES FAILED TWICE WITHIN ONE MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ALUMINUM TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM FAILED AND CAUSED THE VALVE STEMS TO FRACTURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE, HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WAS CORRODED AND CAUSED THE VALVE STEM TO FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR AND THE VALVE STEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 67,400.
I HAVE A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT. THE MAIN CONCERN I HAVE IS THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING VALVE IS DEFECTIVE. THE MAIN VALVE STEM IS MADE OUT OF ALUMINUM AND THEY ARE SNAPPING IN HALF RIGHT BELOW WHERE THE VALVE SCREWS IN ON THE STEM. THIS CAUSES A SUDDEN DECREASE OF AIR PRESSURE THAT WE ALMOST LOST THE CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY THE TIRE STORE WE HAVE ANOTHER TIRE STEM THAT IS READY TO BREAK ALSO. THE VALVE STEMS USED TO BE MADE OUT OF BRASS OR STEEL. AND IN THE COLORADO WEATHER WITH THE SEVERE COLD I THINK IT IS CRACKING THE ALUMINUM STEMS. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS DEFECT BUT SHOULDN'T BE TOO COSTLY TO REPAIR. IF NOT RECALLED THERE WILL BE ROLLOVERS AS THE TIRE PRESSURE GOES OUT VERY QUICKLY. I DO HAVE KNOWLEDGEABLE SKILLS IN THE MECHANICAL AREAS SO I KNOW THIS IS NOT SAFE. *TR
WE HAVE BOUGHT A NEW VEHICLE ON MARCH 20TH, 2010. WE WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRES AND EVERYTHING ON THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. ON MAY 17TH WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO GET ONE OF THE TIRES CHANGED AND FOUND OUT THE OTHER THREE OF THE TIRES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE WIRES IN THE TIRES AE SEPARATING, WHICH ARE CAUSING THE TIRES TO BUBBLE. IN THE END IT'S CAUSING SEPARATION THROUGHOUT THE TIRES. *TR
VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH 17" TIRES AND WHEELS. SPARE IS LIMITED USE 16" TIRE. *TR
