ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE AS I WAS COMING HOME I PUT IT OUT WITH WATER .CAR DROVE JUST FINE HAS FRESH OIL CHANGE
ON FEBRUARY 8, 2019, MY MOTHER WAS PULLING INTO A MAINTENANCE GARAGE TO GET AN OIL CHANGE. UPON PULLING INTO THE GARAGE, SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP AND HER VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. AS A RESULT, HE VEHICLE HIT AN EMPLOYEE, WENT THROUGH THE MAINTENANCE GARAGE DOOR, THROUGH THE PARKING LOT, ACROSS A FOUR LANE STREET, AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED IN A FIELD ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE OIL CHANGE VENUE. THIS IS AN APPROXIMATE DISTANCE OF 300 FEET. UPON FURTHER REVIEW BY MY MECHANIC, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE ABS SYSTEM WAS MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DROP IN THE CAR, AND THE CAR NOT TO STOP. THE WIRING HARNESS ALSO WAS CRACKED RESULTING IN A CUT TO THE ABS WIRE, CAUSING THE ABS MALFUNCTION RESULTING IN THE CAR TO NOT STOP, AND THE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO SPEED FORWARD. GENERAL MOTORS WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED RESPONSIBILITY OF THIS CLAIM.
I GOT THE CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP THE KRANKS WHICH MAKES ME CRANK UP THREE TO FOUR TIMES SOMETIME FIVE EVERY TIME GETTING INTO THE CAR AFTER PUTTING IN DRIVE AND GOING ON THE SHIP 10 FEET THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY GET THAT HARD BREAKING EVERY TIME NEW BRAKES AND PUT ON NEW PADS YET IT STILL DOES THE SAME COOLANT WANT SAY IN THE RESAVAL DON'T KNOW WHY AND MAKES IT RUN VERY VERY HOT AND SMOKING
BRAKE LINE FAILURE, BRAKE LINE CORRODED AND WERE LEAKING BRAKE FLUID RESULTING IN BRAKE FAILURE IN THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE TOWED TO FREEHOLD BUICK GMC (FREEHOLD, NJ) WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE ISSUE AND PROVIDED ME AN ESTIMATE TO REPLACE 2 BRAKE LINES AT A COST OF OVER $2,000.00. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V201000 WAS PERFORMED ON VEHICLE AT THIS DEALERSHIP ON OR ABOUT 9/2017. EVEN AFTER THE RECALL WAS DONE, SMOKE AND OIL STILL APPEAR ON THE FRONT EXHAUST MANIFOLD. IT DOESN'T APPEAR THAT THIS RECALL REPAIRED THE ISSUE AS DESCRIBED. IN ADDITION, THE DEALERSHIP FAILED TO FOLLOW THE RECALL INSTRUCTIONS AND NEVER DISCARDED THE OIL FILLER NECK AND PLASTIC ENGINE COVER AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT STRUCK THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,600.
PROBLEM: THE ABS GETS ACTIVATED WITHOUT CAUSE. DESCRIPTION: I FIRST NOTICED PROBLEM AROUND MARCH, 2015 AND, AT APPROXIMATELY 158,000 MILES. IT WAS BARELY NOTICEABLE AT FIRST, WITH FAINT METAL SCRAPPING-LIKE NOISES BEING EMITTED, THAT COINCIDED WITH SLIGHT PULSATING VIBRATIONS BEING FELT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ALSO CAME ON, BUT A FEW DAYS LATER, IT WENT AWAY. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC, AND THEIR COMPUTER DID NOT SHOW ANYTHING. AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT, THE PROBLEM BECAME MORE OBVIOUS, AS IT BECAME MORE FREQUENT, THE NOISES MORE AUDIBLE, AND THE PULSATIONS MORE PRONOUNCED, WITH THE ABS LIGHT ALSO COMING ON. IT'S AT THE POINT, WHERE, QUITE OFTEN, IF I HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKES HARDER, THERE TENDS TO BE A SLIP, AND I'M NOT ABLE TO BRAKE AND STOP, WHERE I OTHERWISE WOULD/SHOULD HAVE. SO NOW, I'M NOT ABLE TO USE THE CAR, EXCEPT WHEN I DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER ALTERNATIVE. I CALLED THE LOCAL PONTIAC/GMC DEALER, TO ASK ABOUT ANY RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY SAID NO AND SUGGESTED I TAKE THE CAR IN TO REPAIR IT. SINCE I AM ON A VERY TIGHT BUDGET, I INSTEAD DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC AGAIN. HE AGAIN HOOKED IT UP TO THEIR COMPUTER, AND COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. THEY SUGGESTED I HAVE THE ABS SYSTEM REPLACED, BUT THE COST FOR JUST THE PART WAS OVER $200.00. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE REAR CALIPERS. IN ADDITION, OIL LEAKED FROM THE ENGINE ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
ABS KICKS ON WHEN TURNING STOPPING AT SLOW SPEEDS ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN. ABS PUMP KICKS ON WHEN TURNING LEFT AT LOW SPEEDS. IN OREGON WE HAVE A LOT OF BICYCLIST AND THE BRAKES NEED TO WORK. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER [XXX] AND HOLT IN BEND, OR. TWICE AND THE PROBLEM REAPPEARS. BIG SAFETY ISSUE. AT LOW SPEEDS THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES COME ON AND AFFECT BRAKING. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN BACKING UP. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED AT LEAST THREE ACCIDENTS!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ABS WOULD ENGAGE ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TWO FRONT SENSOR HUBS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHO STATED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY AN ELECTRICAL SHORT COMING FROM THE ABS COMPUTER AND SENSOR THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE WHEELS, AND WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO REFERRED HIM BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 84,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000.

SIGNIFICANT BRAKE CALIPER FLUID LEAK ON REAR DRIVER SIDE CALIPER. A NEW CALIPER WAS INSTALLED TO STOP FLUID LEAK. THIS WAS A PREVIOUSLY RECALLED ITEM FOR THE 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. MILEAGE WAS APPROX. 38,000 WHEN LEAK FIRST DETECTED. *TR
HAS A CLUNKING NOISE DUE TO BUSHING WEAR IN THE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY. *TR
WHEN BRAKING AND TURNING THE VEHICLE AT SLOW SPEEDS, IE PARKING THE CAR IN A LOT, THE ABS WILL ACTIVATE. THIS OCCURS AT LEAST HALF OF THE TIME I MAKE A SLOW RIGHT TURN, AND HAS ALSO HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WHEN TURNING LEFT. I HAVE HAD THE ABS ACTIVATE EVEN WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL (ACCELERATING WHILE TURNING FROM AN INTERSECTION FOR EXAMPLE). DEALERSHIP HAS SAID THE PROBLEM IS IN EITHER THE ABS SENSOR OR THE WIRING HARNESS, BUT THE COMPUTER WAS NOT GENERATING ANY CODES TO SPECIFY WHICH, SO THEY ARE SO FAR REFUSING TO FIX ANYTHING. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED DURING A NORMAL BRAKING SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHERE THE DEALER TURNED AND GROUNDED THE ROTORS. THE REPAIR ONLY WORKED FOR 2500 MILES.
