WHEN DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, I WAS IN THE CENTER LANE OF THE HIGHWAY, WHEN THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER IN MY 04 GRAND PRIX, THE DISPLAY SHOWED "LOSS OF POWER TO THE ENGINE" THERE WERE TRUCKS ON EITHER SIDE, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BY DODGING THE VEHICLES COMING UP BEHIND ME. I CALLED MY MECHANIC AND EXPLAIN THE CONDITION, HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG BECAUSE HE SAID HE FIXES THEM ALL THE TIME. THE SPEED SENSOR IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL LOSSES CONNECTION WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND LOSS OF POWER IS THE RESULT. IF THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED ON A TOYOTA THEY WOULD HAVE RECALLED THE VEHICLES AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. I GUESS GM HAS ENOUGH PROBLEMS OR MAYBE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE DIED TO MAKE THIS A GM SAFETY PRIORITY.
I FIRST NOTICED THAT WHEN TURNING THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE FRONT PASSENGER CONTROL ARM NEEDED REPLACED. I RECENTLY TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL AND FOUND OUT THAT THE SPEED HARNESS NEEDS REPLACED AND THAT IS WHAT'S CAUSING THE LIGHT FOR ABS/TC TO BE SERVICED. I HAVE RESEARCHED BOTH OF THESE ISSUES WITH THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE AND IT APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE. WHAT CONSTITUTES A RECALL?
MY TRAC CONTROL, AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON RANDOMLY, THE CAR WON'T GO OVER 65, IT BARLEY STOPS AT TIMES, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AT TIMES, MY WHEELS ALWAYS SPIN IN THE RAIN, AND MOST EMPORIA TOY IT'S MY EVERY DAY DRIVER I HAVE MY 3 YEAR OLD IN, SO PLEASE GET BACK TO ME ASAP, ALL THE WHEEL HUBS WHERE REPLACED AND THE CODES STILL DIDN'T CLEAR SO I KNOW IT'S A COMP ISSUE SO HELP ME THE BEST YOU CAN. -[XXX]. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTIONED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACCELERATOR SENSOR AND CRANK SHAFT SENSOR WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,432.
TL*-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ENGAGED BUT THERE WAS NO POWER RESPONSE. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE MINUTES BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS FLUSHED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V046000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND THE PEDAL STUCK, AND I HIT THE BRAKES AND IT WON'T BUDGE. WHEN I WAS ACCELERATING I WAS ONLY TRYING TO GO ABOUT 45 MPH ,AND AT THE TIME WHEN THE PEDAL BEGAN TO STICK I WAS GOING 25-30 MPH, AND THEN AFTER THE PEDAL STUCK I WAS ACCELERATED AT OVER 70 MPH BY THE TIME I PULLED OVER. I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AND IT SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 15 MPH. IT WAS STILL TRYING TO ACCELERATE , SO I PUT IT IN PARK AND CAR WAS STILL TRYING TO ACCELERATE..........RPM WAS AT 4, AND I WAS SITTING STILL, AND FOOT WASN'T ON THE BRAKE, ALMOST HIT SOMEONE. THIS WAS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAPPENED , BUT THIS TIME I ACTUALLY ALMOST GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT. CHECKED ON RECALLS , AND THEY SAID THAT THIS CAR WAS NOT LISTED AS BEING IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL"RECALL. I TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP , AND THEY STATED THAT IT NEEDED A NEW PEDAL. I STILL BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE UNDER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL RECALL.*AK

POSITION OF THE CRUISE CONTROL LEVER MAKES IT EASY TO ACCIDENTALLY DISENGAGE. WHEN USING THE DECEL FEATURE TO REDUCE SPEED BY 1 MPH, CAN UNKNOWINGLY MOVE THE LEVEL REARWARD SLIGHTLY, CAUSING CRUISE TO DISENGAGE.*AK
DT: 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN FEBRUARY 2005. WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP. THE CAR SEEMED TO MOVE FASTER EVEN THOUGH THE CONSUMER WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER AND THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE RECALL CONTRIBUTED TO THE ACCIDENT. *JB
