This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.

The contact owns a 2021 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V552000 (Back Over Prevention) and 25V720000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, parts for the recall repairs were not yet available. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was contacted, but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the recalls were not associated with the VIN. The contact had not experienced a failure.
On [XXX], while driving my 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500 at highway speed in Florida, the van suddenly lost all power and came to a near stop, then re-engaged. Vehicles were in front and behind me, creating an immediate risk of serious collision, injury, or death. I pulled over ~30 minutes, restarted, but it could not exceed 20 mph while RPMs were high. AutoZone confirmed limp mode and advised a dealer. I drove it home to Port Charlotte, then had it towed to Gettel Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, Punta Gorda, FL, where after two weeks it was diagnosed with a failed transmission requiring replacement. The transmission can be inspected at the dealership. No warning lamps appeared before failure. Problem confirmed by AutoZone and the dealer. I contacted Stellantis (Case #[XXXX], contact Regina Knox; dealership contact Noel), but repair assistance was denied. The van also has two active recalls, including risk of rolling out of park, unremedied. This transmission failure constitutes a serious and imminent safety defect, creating a hazard to myself and the public. I request NHTSA investigate this defect, compel Stellantis to repair it at their cost, and consider any further regulatory action necessary to prevent injury or death. Vehicle info: 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500, 130,000 miles, VIN [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I purchased the vehicle above used on 4/22/2024 with roughly 70,000 miles on it. At 121,000 miles I lost the reverse gear in the transmission and the vehicle displayed 2 code P0736 and P0792. I call my local Chrysler dealership and inform him of the situation, and the service manage advise me of a recall 44A / NHTSA 23V-301 and asks for the VIN. He tells me that the recall has been completed on the vehicle and the cost to fix (replace the transmission) the vehicle will cost me about $4,000.00. I read the recall notice, and it states the vehicle effected had roughly 133,000 miles. The recall must have been closed by the previous owner but that does not change the fact that the manufactures initial repair did not cure the problem being that my vehicle had the catastrophic failure close to when the manufacture stated the problem in the recall. There are many owners of the same vehicle out there that will attest to the transmission failure on these vehicles. I would hope your department will take a serious look into this matter and hold the manufacture accountable and reimburse the cost of the repairs to the owners.
Recall Remedy Failure NHTSA Recall Numbers: 25V-720 (67C) & 25V-552 (59C) I am reporting a failure by FCA US LLC to provide a timely remedy for Recall 25V-720. As of Jan 2026, the remedy remains "under development" since Oct 2025. Specific Safety Concerns for RV Owners: My vehicle is a 2022 Thor Tellaro motorhome. The admitted "Risk of Vehicle Fire" is critical because the vehicle contains propane and lithium/AGM battery systems. Despite the Part 573 report on the NHTSA server listing a "Do Not Drive. Park Outside" advisory, the manufacturer has failed to check these boxes on the consumer-facing summary and has broken links ("File Not Found") for the 67C technical documents on their owner portal. This lack of transparency and the 90+ day delay for a fire-risk remedy has rendered my vehicle unusable. I request that NHTSA investigate why these safety advisories are being obscured from consumers and force the manufacturer to provide a buy-back or immediate repair.
The 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500 I purchased from a dealer on 12/6/25 now has a serious safety defect. The transmission began grinding when shifting into Drive on 1/27/26. Immediately after, the vehicle started rolling backwards while fully in Park with the engine running. This indicates a failure of the parking pawl or internal gearset. The backup camera also does not function, there are coolant and power steering leaks, and the axle/wheel bearing is failing. The dealer claimed the van passed a “120-point inspection,” but it is clearly unsafe and unfit for operation. This defect poses a risk of rollaway injury, crash, and property damage.
The contact owned a 2021 Ram Promaster 1500. The contact had stopped at a house that the contact worked on and parked the vehicle on the side of the house. The contact turned off the engine and entered the house, and after twenty minutes, when the contact stepped outside, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The flames spread to the house and caused damage to the property. Some of the paint melted; the garage door, driveway, side door, and some of the landscape were damaged. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. No police report was filed. The contact was informed by the fire department that the fire started due to a mechanical issue in the engine area. Afterwards, the contact was informed by the fire department that the investigation into the origin of the fire was inconclusive. The insurance company was notified and towed the vehicle to an unknown location. The insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the fire. The manufacturer advised the contact that a field inspector would be sent to inspect the vehicle. The field inspector had inspected the vehicle. The contact received an email from the manufacturer stating that the damage was not their responsibility and the claim had been closed. The contact stated that two weeks prior to the fire, a message saying "rear camera not available" was displayed, and an unknown warning code was illuminated on the instrument panel. Upon further investigation, the contact discovered that NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V552000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION) was associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

This is in regards to cooling fan overheating and causing fire. My closest dealer scheduled me for the recall knowing why I was coming in. When I arrived they told me it was a lengthy repair but confirmed it would be done by the end of day. I changed my plans around this and when end of day came they said the did not have the parts on hand to complete the recall and needed to order them but confirmed the vehicle indeed needed the recall parts. why would they schedule the service, check on the timeline, and then figure out they didn't have the parts? I was down a work truck, work day, transport cost to and from dealer, added an oil change because I would be there only to be let down like this. I have heard nothing from the dealer as a follow up on getting this resolved
The rearview camera intermittently fails when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. The image flickers, becomes distorted, upside down, or goes completely blank. This is a known issue covered under Recall #59C, but the dealer stated there is currently no available remedy. The failure makes backing up unsafe and unpredictable.
The vehicle suddenly and without warning experienced a complete loss of steering control, rendering it undrivable and forcing it to stop on the side of a public roadway. This created a significant risk to my personal safety and to public safety. On the same day, the vehicle was towed to an authorized RAM dealership for inspection. The dealership confirmed that the serpentine belt had broken, there was abnormal noise from the alternator, and the entire power steering system was internally contaminated with metal shavings, requiring complete replacement of the power steering system. The selling dealer has refused to accept rescission of the sale and has also refused to cover the necessary repair costs. The vehicle was unlawfully sold to me while it was subject to an unresolved safety recall, demonstrating a serious disregard for my safety and the safety of others.
The contact owns a 2021 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact stated that the screen display was black and the back-over prevention camera was inoperable. Additionally, the speedometer was blinking and causing a distraction. The radio and hands-free calling were inoperable. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V552000 (Structure). The contact called an unknown local dealer and was referred to a Dodge dealer for assistance. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that there was no warranty coverage on the vehicle and the parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The failure mileage was approximately 14,272.
The vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of steering control during normal driving on a public roadway. The steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn, and the vehicle became immobilized, creating a serious risk of collision and injury. The vehicle was towed to an authorized RAM dealership, where inspection confirmed a broken serpentine belt, abnormal alternator noise, and metal contamination throughout the entire power steering system. The dealer advised that the entire power steering system requires replacement. The presence of metal debris in a critical steering system indicates a pre-existing mechanical defect that could not reasonably develop within 27 days of normal use. No warning lights or messages appeared prior to the failure. At the time of sale, the vehicle was also subject to unresolved safety recall(s). The selling dealer refuses to rescind the sale or provide a refund.
The contact owns a 2021 Ram Promaster 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the headlights were not producing adequate lighting while driving at night. There was no warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called Mopar and was referred to the dealer for assistance. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
The contact owns a 2021 Ram Promaster 1500 equipped with Nexen Tires, Tire Line: Rodian CT8, Tire Size: P225/75/R16, DOT Number: 8EAKHMEL3420. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the passenger’s side rear tire experienced tread separation. The contact was able to replace the tire with the spare. While driving, the driver's side rear tire also experienced tread separation, and the vehicle became difficult to control. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the tires needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate tire mileage was 1,000. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 13,304.
There is currently a recall on Ram Promasters built in 2022 and onward for an issue with the backup camera. My vehicle was built in the spring of 2021 and has the identical issue but is not covered under the recall.
My 2021 Ram ProMaster 2500 has two open safety recalls with no remedy available: NHTSA Recall 25V-552 (rearview camera FMVSS 111 compliance issue) issued August 26, 2025 NHTSA Recall 25V-720 (cooling fan fire risk) issued October 23, 2025 As of April 2026, no remedy has been provided for either recall. The vehicle is used commercially for rental income, and the lack of a repair has caused financial loss of approximately $500–$1,000 per month. One of the recalls involves a potential vehicle fire risk. The prolonged delay without a remedy is concerning for both safety and financial reasons.
Helo, The rearview camera on my commercial cargo vehicle is defective. I've been waiting for it to be replaced for two months, but they haven't responded. Reversing maneuvers are very difficult and risky in a large vehicle. I'm asking for your help.
