This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. The contact owns a 2025 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while driving approximately at 65 MPH, and applying the brake pedal to exit off a ramp, the vehicle failed to decelerate. The contact continued to press the brake pedal; however, the vehicle did not stop, causing them to rear-end another vehicle, which caused their vehicle to come to an abrupt stop. The air bags did not deploy. The contact did not receive any injuries, and no medical attention was needed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed by Georgia Carolina Recovery Services. The contact was informed by the adjuster that the vehicle may be totaled; however, the decision had not been finalized. The dealer was contacted and informed about the incident. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,500.
Driving on the interstate. Did not see or feel anything in the road. Airbags deployed and wrecked.
The contact owned a 2025 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while attempting to drive from a complete stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The front end of the vehicle lowered down while the rear-end rose and made an abnormal squealing sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact's husband assisted the contact in driving, and the vehicle was able to respond after several attempts; however, the contact's husband stated that the vehicle felt like the parking brake was engaged unintendedly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated; however, an unknown part was replaced. The contact stated that while driving 35-45 MPH, the vehicle in front of the contact's vehicle slammed on the brakes. The contact then depressed the brake pedal, but the pedal travelled down and rested on the floorboard. Additionally, the front end of the vehicle lowered while the rear end of the vehicle rose, and the vehicle crashed underneath the rear-end of the truck. There was no warning light illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. Toyoya Safety Connect system automatically connected the contact to a representative. The contact was transported to the hospital by emergency units. The contact sustained a fractured sternum, three fractures on the back, and the contact was hospitalized for 3 days. The contact's husband later arrived at the hospital and received medical assistance. The contact's husband sustained headaches, neck pain, bruised stomach as the seat belt fractured. The other driver did not sustain injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and totaled by the insurance company. The dealer and the manufacturer were contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
On February 14th, my 2025 Toyota Corolla Hybrid (approx. 17,000 miles) experienced a catastrophic failure. Without warning, the steering wheel completely locked, preventing any control. Simultaneously, the automatic emergency collision braking system malfunctioned, locked the brakes, and would not disengage. This total loss of control forced the vehicle to crash into a median. Toyota Corporate has ignored my case for 30 days. This is a severe, life-threatening manufacturing defect that caused a crash and destroyed my sole source of income.
I was driving at 2pm after an Ice Storm had hit texas and a majority of ice was missing but there was a small patch under a bridge. There were two stoplights once which was not under a bridge and one about 50-100 in front which was. I had accelerated to about 20 before the other light changed to red and I attempted to stop but due to ice I kept sliding forward adn the ABS was going wild and while I had the brake held down the pedal was going wild from the ice and after the car has stopped the brake pedal arm had bent so drasticly my brake lights wouldn't turn off due to the pedal arm being bent into the sensor below the dash. Toyota then refused to cover any part of the repair cost under the warrenty due to outside influence. I did not and could not have expected that using the brake pedal in an emergency situation would brake the brake pedal and they refuse to cover it under manufacturer warranty.
Two incidents of rodent eating the wires of the car in a span of two weeks that cause a lot of money to repair. Dealership did mention that wires have soy based insulation which was the cause. Newer Toyota Cars have the same problem which a coworker of mine had last year and my brother as of this date have the same problem.
I am writing to inform you of some recurring issues with my vehicle. The car has been displaying several (5) alerts, including those related to the parking brake system, drive-start control system, check engine light, vehicle stability control system, and secondary collision brake system. I took the car to a dealer for repairs, and they assured me that the issues were resolved. However, the following day, the problems reappeared. Additionally, when I start the car, it emits an unusual sound and begins to shake. Unfortunately, The dealer had 5 days my car to repair and denied to provide a rental car. I don't understand the reason if my car is new and the problem is manufacturing I would appreciate your assistance in addressing these ongoing concerns.
exactly one year after purchase and with approximately 18,000 miles on the vehicle — the original factory-installed front right tire catastrophically failed while I was driving under normal conditions. The tire blew out suddenly with complete sidewall separation, causing loss of vehicle control. There was no prior tire pressure warning before the failure occurred. Tire size: 225 /40R18 88V
My back seats indicate that there is someone seating in them. The alarm for the seatbelt will go off. I have to buckle all the seats to prevent this.
Today while merging into the high way the car suddenly slowed down to 40 miles per hour and would not accelerate . We took the car to Toyota however they said they could not find any thing or replicate the problem
I have had several issues with the car. As issues have not been address problems become more unsafe. Most recently i have had intermittent issues with steering. The wheel will randomly be hard to turn leaving the car to drift uncontrollably. I have gone to the dealership but because they cannot replicate the issue nothing has been done. I have gone 3 different times to get them to address the concern but they cannot replicate it so they have not examined anything. They turned off the safety setting instead of checking the ADAS and since turning off the systems the issues are less frequent, but still a concern. I have contacted corporate who has not helped come to a resolution to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate.
While driving on the freeway, the steering wheel wobles and the entire car sways left and right. I am fearing for my life!
Purchased 6/25 a 2025 Toyota Corolla LE with 16,000 miles as a Pre-Certified Gold Platinum. Car has a constant front end, ride side rattle that does not go away. Advised by dealership it is a manufacturer characteristic. Impossible on a new car and from a billion dollar manufacturer. I was advised to turn up my radio in order not to hear it. Dealership and or Toyota itself has not serviced the vehicle after attempts with the explanation that it is road safe. Well if road safe, how do you know when you don't say what the problem is other than a piece of metal clanking and no remedy by Toyota. So how do I know this vehicle is safe to drive?? No one helps. Words mean nothing and to then say raise radio volume therefore causing another road distraction. If the car can't be fixed than what? Is it really road worthy?
Driving on highway around 65mph, car shut down internally completely blacking out inside. Turned back on a few seconds later while still driving all lights were blinking. Pushed the SOS no-one answered pushed again then someone came on. Matches the same description on the other 2025-26 hybrids in the corolla cross and camry hybrid.
The contact rented a 2025 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds and entering into a parking space, the contact applied the brake pedal; however, the adaptive cruise control system engaged unexpectedly, causing the vehicle to accelerate and crash into a building. The driver was unable to turn off the adaptive cruise control system. There were no reported injuries, fire, or airbag deployment. A police report was filed. The vehicle remained drivable after the incident. The contact also stated that the vehicle continued to surge forward at intersections following the crash. An unknown local dealer was contacted, where it was diagnosed and determined that reprogramming was needed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The wireless charging unit/electrical system failed. The unit is still in the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While driving with all doors securely closed, the system displays false “door open” error messages and disables the wireless charging function. These false alerts distract the driver and could cause confusion or unsafe reactions. The issue undermines confidence in the reliability of the vehicle’s electrical and safety systems. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The Toyota dealership confirmed the problem and reported replacing the wireless charging unit, but the defect persists. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by the Toyota dealership and reviewed by Toyota Customer Care. Toyota denied further assistance (Case #250811002888, letter dated August 21, 2025). Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle displayed false “door open” messages when attempting to use the wireless charger. These warnings cause the system to stop charging and continue to appear despite the dealer’s attempted repair.
2025 Toyota Corolla SE Just wanted to bring attention to the gauge cluster (when the sun is streaming into the car) you cannot read the gauge cluster. The first picture is when the sun is streaming into the car - very hard to read. 2nd picture is upper left side with partial sun glare. 3rd pic is what it should look like all the time. The glass over the gauge cluster should be made out of some kind of anti glare glass so that the gauges are clearly visible all the time or gauge hood needs to be larger.
Vehicle driving thru a city street with no lights at 7 mph around 10pm when the Lane Keeping Assistance read a trash can on the left and pickup truck on the right on the narrow street pulling it completed to the right side and hitting a parked vehicle. Vehicle presented initial issues with quick light and noise the day before the incident. Damages does not reflect a vehicle driving at 7mph(GPS tracker video available but unable to upload) Vehicle manufactures ran a completed FTS inspection on 08/22/25 at local dealership - Results will not be provided for another 45 - 60 days.
There is a persistent high-pitched noise coming from my vehicle, which has now led to significant physical symptoms including migraines, nausea, dizziness, and increased sensitivity to sound, has made driving a painful and unsafe experience. The problem occurs nonstop if the a/c or heat is on. The noise is high-frequency, sharp, and continuous, and appears to originate from within the dashboard area or HVAC components. I went to the dealership multiple times with this complaint and they claim it is normal operation. I did not hear the same issue in the cars they compared mine to, but after Toyota's refusal to address the issue i looked it up and there are other reports [XXX] ). When at the dealership, I am continually faced with dismissive responses from the service departments and technicians, who have failed to address the underlying cause of the sound. This sound creates a serious distraction while driving and has caused physical symptoms including headaches, nausea, ear discomfort, and dizziness. These symptoms impair my ability to concentrate and safely operate the vehicle. On longer drives, the effects intensify, increasing the risk of driver fatigue, disorientation, or even potential loss of control. I believe this presents a significant safety hazard, not only due to the physical impact on the driver, but also because it undermines focus and reaction time, especially in high-traffic or high-speed conditions. This issue should be investigated for potential defects in the HVAC design, acoustic insulation, or related components. Please investigate whether this condition is present in other vehicles of the same make/model and consider whether it warrants a safety recall or manufacturer intervention. The contact's daughter owns a 2025 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated while her daughter was driving at 60 MPH and switching lanes, the driver noticed a stopped truck on the road. The contact stated that the driver depressed the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle made an abnormal squealing sound, lurched forward, and failed to respond. The driver depressed the brake pedal with both feet, and the vehicle decelerated but failed to stop as needed, causing the front passenger's side of the vehicle to drive under the rear of the unoccupied truck and to crash into the truck. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact's daughter was able to exit the vehicle. The check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated after the crash. The vehicle was reversed out of the rear of the truck and was driven to the driveway of the residence, where the engine failed. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to start and was undrivable. The contact's daughter sustained whiplash, body soreness, lower back pain, a seat belt mark and bruises under the chest. The contact's daughter was later taken to the ER, where she underwent CT scans and X-Rays, but no further injuries were found. A police report was filed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
