THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS ALL WORK DURING THE DAY. WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNED ON, THE BOTTOM REAR LIGHTS (BRAKE LIGHTS) TURN OFF WHEN STEPPING ON THE BRAKE.
THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM GOES STIFF AT LOW SPEEDS. I HAVE TO JAM ON THE BRAKES EXTREMELY HARD IN ORDER FOR THEM TO STOP, THE BRAKES EVENTUALLY WILL STOP AFTER A 3 TO FIVE MORE FEET.THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SERVES NO PURPOSE.THE VEHICLE WORKS BETTER AFTER DISABLING THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM.PLEASE RECALL ALL CHEVY SILVERADOS AND TAHOES DUE TO ABS BRAKING SYSTEM ISSUES.
SIGNAL CONTINUED TO CLICK AFTER CANCELING, CHANGED SIGNAL FLASHER BUT DID NOT STOP, TOOK TO DEALER, DIAGNOSED AS MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH - $1,000 IN TOTAL TO FIX - NOT IMPRESSED WITH GM DESERVE TO GO BROKE AS THIS IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM. *TR
WE HAVE PURCHASED A CHEVY 3500HD DUMP TRUCK. WE HAVE KNOWN THIS TRUCK FOR A FEW YEARS AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN STUCK ON AND NO SIGNALS FOR TWO YEARS. WE WERE TOLD ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH FOR OTHER 2000 TRUCK MODELS, I.E. THE 2000 BLAZER, BECAUSE OF THIS SITUATION. WE FEEL THAT OUR TRUCK SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE OTHER TRUCKS MADE BY CHEVY IN THE SAME YEAR AND SUSPECT IT IS THE SAME PART. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE PART IS $400 AND $250 TO REPLACE IN LABOR. WE DON'T FEEL THAT WE SHOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE COST AND THEN GET REIMBURSED FOR THE COST WHEN IT IS FINALLY RECALLED. IN THE PROCESS OF FINDING OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS HAVE BEEN SPENT ON USELESS "FIXES" BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PARTICULAR TRUCK AND NO ONE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT PARTICULAR SWITCH BEING BAD UNTIL WE WERE TALKING TO A BLAZER OWNER OF THE SAME YEAR THAT TOLD US ABOUT THE RECALL ON HIS TRUCK. WE INVESTIGATED A LITTLE MORE AND THERE ARE MORE THAN THE 2000 BLAZER WITH THIS PART BEING RECALLED. *TR
FLASHER IS CONSTANTLY CLICKING WHEN NO BLINKER OR HAZARD LIGHT ARE TURNED ON WHICH CAUSES YOU TO BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE YOUR TURN SIGNAL ON SO THAT YOU CAN PERFORM A TURN OR LANE CHANGE IN WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FALSE SENSE OF THE CLICKING OF THE FLASHER. I'VE REPLACED IT TWICE AND IT CONTINUES. YOU COME TO DEPEND ON THE BLINKER LIGHTS AND FLASHER CLICKING TO HELP LET YOU KNOW THAT YOUR BLINKER IS ON. IT STARTED OFF GRADUALLY FROM CLICKING TO 20-60 SECONDS THEN JUST CONSTANTLY. *NM
CAR HAS 54,000 MILES WITH LIMITED NIGHTTIME USE. HAD TO REPLACE RIGHT HEADLIGHT MOTOR. 100 MILES LATER THE LEFT HEADLIGHT IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
COSUMOR STATES: FOG LIGHT IN RECESS BUMPER A PLASTIC PIECE IN LOWER PART OF BUMPER THE PLASTIC PIECE BRAKES AND LIGHT HANGS THERE UNTIL IT FALLS OUT. ALSO, ABS LIGHT SENSOR CAME ON AND TOOK TO DEALER, THEY DID TEST AND SAID MY SYSTEM IS DEFFECTIVE HAD REPLACED BUT HAD TO PAY SOME OF COST OUT OF POCKET. THE LEATHER SEATS HAVE ALSO STARTED TO TEAR, AND WHEN STARTING VEHICLE SOUNDS LIKE A DISEL TRUCK

I OWN A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1/2 TON PICKUP. THE DRIVER'S SIDE RUNNING FRONT RUNNING LIGHT OF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ILLUMINATE AND HAS NOT WORKED CONSISTENTLY FOR TWO AND HALF YEARS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME YEAR CHEVROLET PICKUP VEHICLE AND THEY COMPLAIN OF THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE TRUCK HAS AN AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT CIRCUIT. (AT TWILIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ENERGIZED WITHOUT MANUAL TURN-ON.) AMONG THE MANY ELECTRONIC FEATURES THERE IS ALSO A ''DOME LIGHT OVERRIDE'' BUTTON. THIS FEATURE ALLOWS YOU TO CONTROL WHETHER OR NOT THE DOME LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED. ONE CAN EASILY ASSUME IT IS TO TURN ON AND OFF THE DOME LIGHT WITHOUT OPENING THE DOOR. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. IF YOU ARE DRIVING WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE AUTOMATIC CIRCUIT AND YOU PUSH THE ''DOME OVERRIDE'' 3-4 TIMES, ALL THE LIGHTS GO OUT (INCLUDING THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS). TO RE-ENERGIZE THE HEADLIGHTS YOU MUST DO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: 1. TURN IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON. (IMPOSSIBLE TO DO IF DRIVING.) 2. HIT THE DOME OVERRIDE BUTTON 3-4 MORE TIMES. (NOT AN INTUITIVE CORRECTION.) 3. TURN THE HEADLIGHT MANUAL SWITCH TO ON. (GOOD IDEA IF YOU KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM BEFOREHAND AND HAVE THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO DO IT WHILE DRIVING 60-70 MPH ON A BLACKTOP HIGHWAY. AND IF YOU CAN FIND THE SWITCH KNOB IN TOTAL DARKNESS WHILE STEERING AND BRAKING IN TOTAL DARKNESS.) THE REALLY BAD: CHECKING WITH THE DEALER ABOUT THIS DEFECT, I WAS TOLD THIS FEATURE IS DESIGNED INTO THE ELECTRONICS. THAT IS, ''ITS NOT A DEFECT, ITS SUPPOSED TO DO THIS.'' THE REALLY, REALLY BAD (AND GM''S MAJOR LIABILITY): NOWHERE IN THE DETAILED INSTRUCTION MANUAL DOES GM WARN, CAUTION, OR EVEN MENTION THIS FEATURE. APPARENTLY, THIS IS SOMETHING ONLY MR. GOODWRENCH IS SUPPOSED TO KNOW. CONCLUSION: BEING AN ENGINEER MYSELF, I FIND THIS BUILT-IN FEATURE (DEFECT) TO BE MIND-BOGGLING.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT. I HAVE ORDER 9 LIGHTS OVER 2 YEARS, AFTER ABOUT THE 5TH LIGHT GOING OUT I'M ASSUMING THERE IS A LOSE OF GROUND, OR IMPROPER FABRACATION OF THE UNIT THAT HOLDS THE LIGHT IN PLACE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER SOMETHING IS MAKING THE LIGHT TO MAKE A LOUD POP WHEN IT BURNS OUT, LOUD ENUGH TO HEAR IT OVER THE RADIO.*AK

THE GOVERNMENT HAS CAR MAKERS TRYING TO GAIN MORE FUEL ECONOMY BY HAVING THEM MAKE THEIR VEHICLES SMALLER AND LIGHTER, BUT THAT IS FOR CARS ALMOST ONLY. SO NOW THAT TRUCK REMAIN STANDARD AS BEFORE THEIR HEAD LIGHTS ON DIM ARE HIGHER THEN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IN THE CARS THEREFORE CAUSING BLINDNESS TO THE CAR DRIVER. THE GOV. SHOULD SET A MAX. HEIGHT FOR HEADLIGHTS TO BE OFF THE ROAD WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SITTING ON A LEVEL SURFACE. AND THEN THE LAW ALLOWS SOME OF THESE TRUCK OWNERS TO JACK THEIR UNIT UP EVEN HIGHER THAN STANDARD TO WHERE THE HEADLIGHTS OR EVEN ABOVE THE ROOF OF THE CARS AND IT VERY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT WHEN YOU MEET ONE COMING OR ONE PULLS UP BEHIND YOU. OF COURSE I KNOW THERE WILL BE NOTHING DONE ON SOMETIME LIKE THIS UNTIL 100 PEOPLE HAVE WRECKS AND OR KILLED OR THEY RUN OVER SOMEONE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE THEM IN THE BLINDING LIGHTS OF A STANDARD HIGH RISE TRUCK. THE HEADLIGHT PROBLEM INVOLVES AN OVERRIDE BUTTON INSTALLED ON THE 2000 SILVERADO THAT IS TO BYPASS THE AUTO HEADLIGHT ON EVEN DURING THE DAY. THE BUTTON, ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL, IS TO BE ABLE TO TURN OFF THE HEADLIGHTS ( THIS IS THE ONLY WAY, THERE IS NO OFF POSITION ) IF YOU ARE STOPPED, ( LIKE AT A BURGER PLACE) WITH YOUR ENGINE RUNNING & YOU DON'T WANT YOUR LIGHTS ON. BUT, I FOUND THAT YOU ALSO CAN BE GOING DOWN THE ROAD, ( I DID THIS GOING 50 MPH), & PUSH THIS BUTTON 3 TIME & ALL THE LIGHTS GO OUT. THE DASH, & FRONT & REAR LIGHTS! I PANICED & COULD NOT FIND HOW TO TURN THEM BACK ON. I HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP, ( LUCKY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME), & THEN I FOUND I HAD TO TURN THE SWITCH TO MANUAL LIGHTS ON CONTROL TO GET THEM BACK ON. I LATER FOUND OUT FROM THE MANUAL THAT THIS SWITCH WAS NITENDED FOR THE BYPASS OPERATION I SPOKE OF EARLIER. I THINK YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TURN OFF ALL YOUR LIGHTS WHILE MOVING BY SIMPLY PUSHING THIS BUTTON THREE TIMES! THE VIBRATION PROBLEM SEEM TO BE AFFECTING A LOT OF THE NEW 1999 & 2000 MODEL SILVERADO TRUCKS. GM SAYS THEY ARE WORKING ON IT, BUT DO NOT HAVE A FIX YET. NOT SAFETY RELATED BUT ANNOYING! JUST NOT RIGHT FOR A NEW TRUCK. I HAVE INLISTED THE HELP OF THE BBB ON THIS PROBLEM SINCE DEALER WILL NOT FIX. SAYS SINCE MOST OF THE NEW MODELS DO IT, THEY LIST IT AS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC!!! WHILE DIMMING THE LIGHT FOR INSTRUMENT PANEL CONSUMER'S HAND "BUMPED" DOME OVERRIDE SWITCH. AS A RESULT, ALL EXTERNAL LIGHTS SHUT OFF DURING OPERATION OF VEHICLE. THIS WAS ONLY DESIGNED TO HAPPEN WHEN DOME OVERRIDING SWITCH WAS PRESSED FOUR TIMES IN RAPID SUCCESSION. PROBLEM OCCURED WHENEVER SWITCH WAS TOUCHED. DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE A CAUSE FOR THIS PROBLEM. *AK CONSUMER STATES THE DEALER REPLACED THE SWITCH AND IT DOES THE SAME THING. *JB
