MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WOULD KICK IN WHEN I WOULD SLOW DOWN ALMOST TO A STOP. THEY WOULD NOT LET ME STOP. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON AND MY BRAKE SYSTEM HAS BEEN WORKING GREAT. IS THERE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM, SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO A LOT OF CHEVY OWNERS?
AS I WAS TOPPING THE CURVE OF AN ENTRANCE RAMP, I FELT THE REAR OF THE TRUCK LOSE TRACTION ON THE WET ASPHALT AND THE TAIL STARTED TO MOVE. I LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL TO GAIN CONTROL, AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO PROPEL THE TRUCK AS IF THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK. THIS CAUSED THE REAR OF THE TRUCK TO CONTINUE AROUND AND SLAMMED THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK INTO A GUARD RAIL AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP WITH TRUCK PARALLEL TO GUARD RAIL AND FACING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC. I WAS HOLDING THE BRAKES AS SOON AS I REALIZED THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF CONTROL. IF NOT FOR THE GUARD RAIL, MY FAMILY AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN PROPELLED OVER A STEEP EMBANKMENT WITH FATAL RESULTS. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE HAD THIS OCCUR ON THIS VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN 2001. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000.
MY FATHER RECENTLY DIED AS A RESULT OF INJURIES SUFFERED IN A ONE VEHICLE ACCIDENT. HE WAS DRIVING HIS 2000 CHEVROLET C1500 PICKUP TRUCK. HE INDICATED THAT THE THROTTLE ON HIS TRUCK STUCK AND HE COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, HE RAN OFF THE ROAD, HIT A TREE TOTALING THE VEHICLE. *TR
THIS IS IN REGARDS TO NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA02015. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE ACCEL PEDAL GETTING STUCK. DEALER SAID IT IS NORMAL WHICH IT IS NOT. HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHEN MANEUVERING AT LOWER SPEEDS PARKING LOTS/STREETS ETC. YOU HAVE TO GIVE THE PEDAL A FIRM PUSH TO GET IT UNSTUCK AND THE TRUCK LUNGES FWD. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT BY THIS. I HAVE SEEN MANY MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS ON THE BOARDS/CHAT ROOMS. I WAS WITH MY YOUNG DAUGHTER DRIVING AND THIS OCCURRED AND SHE PULLED OUT AND PEDAL/THROTTLE GOT STUCK. SHE GAVE GAS AND LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE NARROWLY MISSING SEMI. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS. MY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SAYS THIS IS VERY COMMON ON THIS YRS CHEVY SILVERADOS AND NO FIX EXISTS. *CBC *NM

DURING DAYS WHERE THE TEMPERATURE RISES, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DOES, "STICK" WHERE YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT A GOOD FIRM PUSH WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD. ALSO, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON A SLOPE, IT ALSO DOES SEEM TO, "STICK" OFTEN. DT*: THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE THROTTLE PLATE. UPDATED 5/4/2006 - WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED IT TOOK A WHILE BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE THEN IT WOULD ACCELERATE SUDDENLY. *NM
THERE IS A HIGH EFFORT AT THE GAS PEDAL ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD. SOMETIMES THIS EFFORT IS SO GREAT THAT WHEN BACKING OR IN A PARKING LOT, I MUST APPLY FORCE THEN THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN OCTOBER OF 1999. *NM

AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WOULDNT STOP AND VEHICLE CONTINUED FORWARD. EVASIVE ACTION WAS TAKEN BY DRIVING OFF INTO A FIELD AND PLACING THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL. FEB 6 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WEED CHEVY IN BRISTOL PA AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY.TWO PLUGS IN THE PLATE AND THE PCV VALVE. WHEN I PAID MY BILL I NOTICED ON THE BILL THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE FLASH FOR THE MECHANIC, THAT THIS WAS A EXISTING PROBLEM. *NM
THE ONGOING PROBLEM THAT I AM EXPERIENCING IS WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. AFTER THE TRUCK HAS BEEN PARKED FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME AND ONLY WHEN FIRST STARTING OUT ; I HAVE TO APPLY EXCESSIVE PRESSURE TO MAKE THE PEDAL GO DOWN. IT SEEMS AS IF IT IS STUCK. THIS CAN BE QUITE UNNERVING WHEN PARKED IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO OTHER VEHICLES . I HAVE TO TAP IT FIRMLY AND QUICKLY SO AS NOT TO MAINTAIN PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR AND ACCELERATE UNNECESSARILY. I HAD TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY ON MY 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO REPLACED DUE TO THE ACCELERATOR STICKING. MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FROM GENERAL MOTORS REGARDING REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY WHEN THIS CONDITION OCCURS. I BELIEVE THIS PART WAS DEFECTIVE, POSES A SAFTY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY GENERAL MOTORS.*AK
ACCELERATOR STICKS IN IDLE POSITIONS AND REQUIRES GREAT FORCE TO DEPRESS RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE LUNGING FORWARD OR BACKWARDS DEPENDING ON GEAR SELECTION...EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IN TIGHT AREAS.*AK THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY, BUT SAME PROBLEM HAS REACCURRED. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT GM SHOULD CORRECT, AS IT OBVIOUSLY IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM.
THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS WHEN STARTING OUT, CAUSING TOO MUCH THROTTLE AND SURGING WHEN THE PEDAL FINALLY BREAKS FREE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC OR WHEN ROADS ARE SLICK. *JB
DT: CONSUMER STATED THE ACCELERATOR WAS STICKING IN HIS VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE WORSE WHEN THE VEHICLE HEATED UP. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC STATED IT WAS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN AT LOW SPEEDS. THE MECHANIC STATED THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
FUEL THROTTLE HANG-UP SINCE PURCHASE IN 2000. DEALERSHIP PERFORMED CARBON CLEANING 3 TIMES HOWEVER ISSUE DOES NOT RECTIFY. MUST "POP" AT THE FUEL PEDAL IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE MOVING THUS CAUSING A LURCHING FORWARD OF VEHICLE. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SHE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, IN THE RAIN. UPON ACCELERATING FROM THE LIGHT, THE THROTTLE SUDDENLY BECAME STUCK WIDE OPEN. SHE PUSHED THE CLUTCH, TOOK THE TRUCK OUT OF GEAR AND MANAGED TO PULL SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT, WAS THE AIR DEFLECTOR IN THE THROTTLE BODY. IT BROKE OFF AND FELL INTO THE THROTTLE, WEDGING IT OPEN. DEALER BLAMED POOR MAINTENANCE, USING PREMIUM GAS IN THE TRUCK, AND TOLD HER TO "DRIVE THE SH*T OUT OF IT" THE WAY IT IS. THE TRUCK HAS ALWAYS HAD ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AS RECOMMENDED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. *AK
