STRUCTURAL FAILURE & AIRBAG FAILURE Crash on the bend of a dangerous Utah road. Lost control and vehicle crossed center line striking another vehicle headon. The cab separated from the frame of the truck. The airbags did not deploy.
SINGLE OCCUPANT BLACK ICE-INDUCED HEAD ON HIGH FORCE IMPACT TREE COLLISION WHILE WITH NO PRE-TENSIONER OR AIR BAG DEPLOYMENTS OF ONE-OWNER VEHICLE
HAD TO BRAKE HARD AND STEEL BRAKE LINE BURST. PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD. LOOKS VERY RUSTY. FRONT SEATBELT FAILED, DOESN'T RETRACT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS DISTRACTED AND DROVE OFF THE ROAD INTO A RAVINE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT INJURED BOTH LEGS, KNEES, AND RIBS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 194,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE AT A STOP, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE, WHICH RESULTED IN A FOUR-VEHICLE COLLISION. THE DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER BOTH SUSTAINED HEAD, NECK, AND BACK INJURIES. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER ENCOUNTERED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND SUFFERED FROM MINOR INJURIES TO THE FACE. THE DRIVER AND THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 199,000.
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. MY HUSBAND WAS TAKING TO ER AND HAD SEVERAL STAPLES PLACED IN HIS HEAD.
I REAR ENDED SOMEONE GOING ABOUT 70 MPH AND MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
MY FIANCE AND I WERE DRIVING HOME AND AS WE ENTERED TOWN GOING APPROXIMATELY 35-45 MPH THE VEHICLE SWERVED OFF THE ROAD AND COLLIDED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE BREAKING IT IN HALF CAUSING THE TOP HALF OF THE TELEPHONE POLE TO SWING DOWN AND SMACK INTO THE WINDSHIELD. HE SMACKED HIS FACE OFF OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND I WAS LAYING DOWN ON THE SEAT AND ROLLED OFF AND BROKE THE ASHTRAY HOLDER WITH MY FACE. DURING THE IMPACT NOT A SINGLE AIRBAG DEPLOYED EVEN THOUGH THE AIRBAGS WERE ALL IN WORKING ORDER. THE IMPACT WAS SO SEVERE THAT THE TAILGATE OF THE TRUCK BENT OUTWARD, THE RADIATOR WAS RIPPED OUT FROM BENEATH THE VEHICLE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS TOTALED. I WAS THEN PUT INTO A NECK BRACE, STRAPPED TO A GURNEY AND RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL. I WILL REITERATE THE FACT THAT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED CAUSING THE BOTH OF US TO BE INJURED. WE LUCKILY SURVIVED THE CRASH BUT HAD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED THE BOTH OF US WOULD HAVE SUFFERED MINIMAL INJURIES. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR LOCKS PASSENGERS INTO THE SEAT AND IT GETS TIGHTER UPON PASSENGER MOVEMENT AND WILL NOT RELEASE. THIS OCCURS ON LEVEL GROUND AND IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE VEHICLE IS MOVING, STOPPED OR NOT RUNNING. THIS IS OVER A $600.00 COST TO THE CONSUMER NOT INCLUDING TAXES. *TR

SUBURBAN WAS TRAVELING @ APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER/HOUR WHEN A TOYOTA FORERUNNER ILLEGALLY PULLED IN FRONT @ A SPEED OF APPROX 5-10 PER HOURS AND CAUSED A HEAD-COLLISION. FORERUNNERS AIRBAGS DEPLOYED BUT THE SUBURBAN DID NOT CAUSING INJURY TO OCCUPANT OF THE SUBURBAN. THE SUBURBAN'S DAMAGE WAS BOTH RADIATORS WERE SPLIT INTO 2 ALSO CAR NEEDED OVER 10,000.00 WORTH OF MAJOR REPAIRS TO FRONT END. AFTER CRASH CAR WOULD NOT START. POSSIBLE IGNITION PROBLEM. *JS
(1) NO PRIOR EVENTS LEADING TO THE FAILURE (2) THE PASSENGER REAR SEATBELT WILL ONLY RETRACT AND IS VERY HARD TO RETRIEVE. MY FOUR (4) YEAR OLD SON WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT AND THE BELT STARTED TO TIGHTEN UP AND HE WAS BEING CONSTRICTED SO MUCH THAT HE COULDN'T BREATHE. I NOTICED THE EVENT TAKING PLACE AND IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND UNBUCKLED HIM. (3) THE SEAT BELT IS TO BE REPLACED AT A WHOPPING $250.00 CHARGE FROM THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THE ENTIRE SEAT BELT AND RETRACTION DEVICE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. WE SWITCHED HIS SEAT TO THE OTHER SIDE. WE THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS THE BELT BEING TANGLED UP INSIDE THE RETRACTION DEVICE, HOWEVER THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT WAS A MALFUNCTIONING RETRACTOR AND ENTIRE SEAT BELT NEEDS REPLACED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN THE PASSENGER. INVOLVED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON 04/04/06 STRIKING A CONCRETE LIGHT POLE, RENDERED UNCONSCIOUS, VEHICLE TRAVELED ACROSS A ROADWAY STRIKING A TREE. AIR BAGS IN THE VEHICLE NEVER DEPLOYED. VEHICLE CAME IN CONTACT WITH BOTH THE TREE AND LIGHT POLE AT 90 DEGREE ANGLE. AIR BAG SWITCH WAS IN THE ON POSITION. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT. *NM

CONTACT THOUGHT THAT IF THE BUMPER GOT BENT IN THE AIR BAGS WERE SUPPOSE TO DEPLOY. HER HUSBAND WAS NOT WEARING SEAT BELT. THEY DO KNOW THAT SPEED WAS A FACTOR IN THE ACCIDENT. FRONT AND REAR SEATBELTS LOCK SO TIGHT SOMETIMES THAT THE ONLY WAY FOR RELIEF IS TO UNBUCKLE THEM AND RE-FASTEN WHILE DRIVING! ALL FOUR RETRACTORS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. ONCE THE SEAT BELT IS UN-FASTENED, THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT COMPLETELY RETRACT BACK IN. THIS LEAVES THE SEAT BELT DANGLING AFTER USE AND POTENTIALLY TOO LOOSE FOR NEXT PASSENGER.
