TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SWITCH FAILED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V599000 (VISIBILITY). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CITY BUICK GMC (43-60 NORTHERN BLVD, LONG ISLAND CITY, NY 11101 AT (347) 670-4210) AND REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONTAL DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SWITCH WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 161,000.
I WAS PULLING UP TO PARK IN A PARKING LOT.I HAD TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. THE ELECTRONIC SAFETY FEATURES FAILED- AND THERE WAS NO STOPPING THE ENVOY. I SLID UP THE CURB AND INTO THE BUILDING. THE MECHANIC THAT REPAIRED THE ENVOY HAS A WRITTEN REPORT OF THE SAFETY SYSTEMS GETTING STUCK HALF OPENED AND THE BRAKE LINES BRAKING AND THERE WASN'T ANY FLUID IN SYSTEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED CORROSION ON THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE SUB FRAME NEEDED TO BE WELDED. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
MY 2006 ENVOY BACK HATCH KEEPS CLICKING WHEN RAISED ALSO HAVE TO OPEN PASSENGER BACK DOOR BEFORE HATCH OPENS. *TR
ON MAY 10, 2011 THE REAR SPOILER (WITH THIRD BRAKE LIGHT) FLEW OFF THE BACK OF MY 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI XL SHORTLY AFTER ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. LUCKY FOR ME IT WAS CRUSHED BY A PASSING TRACTOR TRAILER INSTEAD OF HITTING SOMEONE'S WINDSHIELD. GMC SAID THAT SINCE MY SUV WAS 6 YEARS OLD AND OVER 100K MILES I "SHOULD EXPECT " THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS. ON JULY 24, 2011 SHORTLY AFTER ENTERING THE HIGHWAY THE ENTIRE LIFTGATE WINDOW PULLED AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. I AM ABOUT TO OPEN ANOTHER COMPLAINT WITH GMC, BUT EXPECT LITTLE HELP FROM THEM. APPARENTLY THE WINDOW AND SPOILER ARE BOTH ATTACHED WITH DOUBLE SIDED TAPE ON THIS MODEL YEAR.A DEFINITE DESIGN FLAW. IT IN MY OPINION IS A HAZARD TO ANYONE DRIVING BEHIND ONE OF THESE VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND THE WINDOWS AND SPOILERS "BOLTED" INTO PLACE. *TR
THE LIFTGATE OF MY 2006 GMC ENVOY XL CAME APART FROM THE BODY. THE TOP PLASTIC PIECE FIRST STARTED TO APPEAR NOT ALIGNED WITH THE ACTUAL LIFTGATE. THAT CONTINUED TO GET WORSE OVER TIME AND THE RUBBER MOLDING AROUND THE LIFTGATE BECAME WARPED. EVENTUALLY, WITHIN 3 MONTHS, THE WHOLE LIFTGATE WAS NOT ALIGNED AND I WAS HAVING ISSUES CLOSING IT. I HAD TO HAVE THE TOP MOLDING REPLACED, THE RUBBER REPLACED AND THE DOOR WELDED BACK ON PROPERLY. I WAS TOLD THAT WHATEVER HELD THE LIFTGATE ON WAS RUSTED. *TR
