Additionally, after starting the vehicle, the gear shifter failed to immediately shift out of park. The contact stated that after turning off and restarting the vehicle, the contact was able to shift the gear shifter out of park(P). The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 150,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING DOWN AN INCLINE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND HAD THE BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS FOR THE FRONT WHEELS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WOULD BE THE FOURTH REPAIR FOR THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS THIS YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
WE HAVE A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID. WE HAVE HAD A MECHANIC'S OPINION HE DOESN'T KNOW WHY WE ARE LOSING FLUID. ALL HOSES, RESERVOIR HAS BEEN CHECKED AND NO SIGN OF THE PROBLEM.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 205,000.
CONTINUOUS STICKY BRAKES ON POSSIBLE UNDER DESIGNED ABS BRAKES. NEW ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED LESS THAN 14 MONTHS WITH PROPER MAINTENANCE BY EXPERIENCE D MECHANIC. NO EVIDENCE OF MALFUNCTIONING MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKES HOSES OR FROZEN CALIPERS.
I BOUGHT THIS AUTO WITH 21954 MLES ON IT MAY 2013 AND THE REAR BRAKES HAD JUST BE REPLACED. NOW IN DEC 2016 WITH 80000 MILES I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ROTARS AND BRAKE PADS AGAIN WHEN THEY STARTED MAKING A NOISE. REAR BRAKES SHOULD LAST A LOT LONGER THAN THIS

REAR PASSENGER SIDE CALIPER STICKING, CAUSING A SMALL FIRE. HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE REAR CALIPER AND BLEED THE SYSTEM. THIS IS A DEATH HAZARD THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER CORPERATION WERE NOTIFIED. I SPOKE TO STEVE STANDERS FROM CHRYSLER AT 586-274-8086. THIS IS FROM AN ON GOING ISSUE THEY CHRYSLER WAS WARNED ABOUT BEFORE IT HAPPENED THEY FAILED TO PROCEED TO TAKE PROPER ACTION AND PUT MY FAMILY AT RISK OF DEATH.
VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IT TO ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP FOR A "WINTER MAINTENANCE" SPECIAL. DEALERSHIP CALLED CLAIMING THAT BOTH REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR YET THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 25K MILES ON IT. THIS IS EXTREMELY PREMATURE WEAR FOR A VEHICLE IN MY OPINION. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A VEHICLE CAN DESTROY BOTH ITS BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR UNLESS THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT OR KNOWN SUB-PAR PARTS. *TR
BRAKES ARE REQUIRING REPLACEMENT WAY TOO OFTEN. NUMEROUS REPORT ON WEB INDICATE THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT RELATED TO POOR PARTS/EXCESSIVE WEAR. I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT IT WILL BE $648 TO REPLACE THE FRONT PADS AND ALL THE PARTS (ROTOR, CALIPER, PADS) ON BOTH REAR WHEELS. THE AUTOMOTIVE CENTER TOLD ME THIS DEGREE OF WEAR IS EXCESSIVE FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 57000 MILES ON IT. THE VAN WAS BOUGHT USED AT 31000 AND I HAVE NO INFO ON WHETHER THERE WERE BRAKE PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THAT. SOME OWNERS ARE REPORTING HAVING TO HAVE REPLACED BRAKES (PADS PLUS OTHER COMPONENTS) THREE TIMES BEFORE THEIR VEHICLES REACHED 50000 MILES. *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER WITH ABOUT 17000 MILES ON THE CAR FRONT AND REAR BRAKES OVER HEATING CAUSING WARPAGE IN ROTORS. THEY WERE REPLACED BY CHRYSLER BUT HAVE GONE BAD AGAIN, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES YOU FELL THE WHEEL SHIMMY AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE IS GREATLY REDUCED. *TR

WAS GOING ON A TRIP WITH MY FAMILY IN OUR 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LX. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE EXPESSWAY, WE HAD TO BRAKE. WELL WHEN YOU TRY TO BRAKE, THE PEDAL GOES DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND YOU DO NOT STOP. WHEN YOU DO STOP THE TIRES LOCK UP AND SKID. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. I EVEN TRIED REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS AND THAT DIDNT HELP. I HAVE BEEN READING A LOT OF INFORMATION ONLINE THAT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THEY HAVENT RECALLED THIS VEHICLE YET!!! *TR
CHRYSLER KNOWS THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON ITS 2010 (AND OTHER MODEL YEARS) IS DEFECTIVE BUT THEY REFUSE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO IT'S CUSTOMERS. THE BRAKE PADS AND CALIPERS ARE NOT LARGE ENOUGH FOR THE VEHICLES SIZE AND WEIGHT WHICH CAUSES THE BRAKES TO OVERHEAT AND WARP THE ROTORS IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD. THIS LEADS TO BRAKE PEDAL PULSATION AND EXCESSIVE DANGEROUS STEERING WHEEL SHAKE WHICH CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE SETS OF PADS, ROTORS AND CALIPERS REPLACED DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY I FIND MYSELF HAVING TO PAY FOR BRAKE PARTS/SERVICE OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 33,000 MILES ON IT AND IT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD ANY BRAKE WORK YET BUT INSTEAD, IT'S HAD MULTIPLE BRAKE SERVICES. PLEASE MAKE CHRYSLER ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE BRAKES ON THESE VEHICLES AND REQUIRE CHRYSLER TO REDESIGN THE SYSTEM WITH NEW PARTS AS OPPOSED TO THE SAME DEFECTIVE REPLACEMENT PARTS. *TR
THE FRONT BRAKES WERE DESIGNED TO APPLY THEMSELVES WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE BRAKE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE WAY THAT THE STERING WHEEL IS TURNED IS AUTOMATICALLY APPLIED WHEN IT IS BEING DRIVEN. THIS WEARS OUR THE BRAKES AND CAUSES A LOT OF EXPENSE KEEPING BRAKES REPAIRED. ONCE WE WERE COMING HOME ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE BRAKES GOT SO HOT THAT IT MELTED THE WHEEL CYLINDER AND DUMPED ALL THE BRAKE FLUID OUT AND WE HAD NO BRAKES. WE WERE LUCKY THAT THIS HAPPENED AS SOON AS WE TURNED INTO OUR YARD. IF IT HAD HAPPENED A FEW MINUTES EARLIER,WHILE WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE,IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER. I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX IT.
NOTICED AN UNUSUAL SOUND COMING FROM LR. EXITED VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY SMELLED BURNING BRAKE PADS. LR WHEEL TOO HOT TO TOUCH. DROVE VEHICLE REMAINING 1/2 MILE HOME. AFTER ONLY FIVE MINUTES OF INTERNET RESEARCH I HAD LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE,MOSTLY 2008 TO 2012 MODELS. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 38000 MILES ON IT AND MORE THAN 50% OF THOSE ARE HIGHWAY MILES. SEEMS LIKE THE SHEER VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS WOULD WARRANT A RECALL OR AT THE VERY LEAST A NHTSA INVESTIGATION. I WILL CERTAINLY TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM CHRYSLER PRODUCTS ALTOGETHER. *TR
REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS COMPLETELY WENT METAL ON METAL PAID 375.00 FOR REPLACEMENT. THE BRAKES WERE ON A LEASE WITH ONLY 27K MILES ON THEM. THE FRONT BRAKES ALSO HAVE GONE BUT THERE WAS A RECALL WE JUST NEVER WERE NOTIFIED SO NOW WE ARE RESPONSIBLE. *JS
