TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ACTIVATED, WATER LEAKED INTO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 32058797. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000.
I WAS DRIVING AND I TURNED THE SWITCH ON FOR MY WIPERS. SOMETHING SMELLED LIKE IT WAS BURNING, AND MY WIPERS WOULD NOT MOVE. NOW THEY HAVE COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. ON 10/12/2013, IT WAS RAINING IN THE EVENING AND MY WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING. THANK GOD I WAS REALLY CLOSE TO HOME FOR IT WAS HARD TO SEE. *TR
2ND NOTICE ABOUT THE "REAR QUARTER VENT WINDOW SWITCH". NEUWIRTH CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP HERE IN WILMINGTON SAID THAT THEY WOULD ORDER THE REPLACEMENTS 6-8 MONTHS AGO. NEVER HEARD FROM THEM. CALLED NEUWIRTH TODAY WHEN WE RECEIVED THIS SECOND NOTICE ( 01/08/15 ), AND WAS TOLD BY "[XXX]" THAT THE "PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE." SHE SAID, "I'LL PUT YOU ON OUR LIST AND CALL WHEN WE CAN GET YOU IN." ...DRIVER DOOR FIRE WITHOUT WARNING... SOUNDS SERIOUS TO ME. HOW ABOUT SOME HELP! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LEAK WATER FROM THE HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING DRAIN GROMMET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT, WHICH COULD LEAD TO ILLUMINATION OF THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT. IN ADDITION, THE FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED A POTENTIAL INADVERTENT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE BUT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A DEFECT AND INSTEAD WAS SIMPLY A FRACTURED PART. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 58,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR AND NOTICED HEAVY SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR CONTROL PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH WIRES WERE DISABLED AND PERMANENTLY REMOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE WIRE HARNESS AND WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,750.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH IN COLD WEATHER, THE WINDOW DEFROSTER FAILED TO DEFROST THE TWO-THREE INCH BOTTOM PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD ABOUT THE FAILURE BUT CONFIRMED THAT THE DEFROSTER WOULD NOT BLOW DIRECTLY WHERE THE ICE WAS BUILDING UP ON THE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,350.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. WHENEVER THE DEFOGGER WAS TURNED ON HIGH OR LOW, IT WOULD NOT MELT SNOW AND ICE FROM THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. A SERVICE MANAGER INSPECTED THE FAILURE AND CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT TAKE ANY LIABILITY FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,748.
VERY UNSAFE DEFROSTERS ON THE 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY LIMIT VAN. WHEN TURNED ON IT BLOWS UP IN THE CENTER BUT NOT OUT ON THE SIDES TO CLEAR ICE OR SNOW IN WINTER IN WISCONSIN. WE WERE ON INTERSTATE 90 DURING A SNOW STORM. WE HAD TO PULL OVER TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD. IT WOULD NOT KEEP THE ICE AND SNOW FROM BUILDING UP ON THE BOTTOM AND SIDES OF THE OUTSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD & WITH THAT THE WIPERS BECAME THICK WITH ICE. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNDER THAT DESIGN. THE 2011 TOWN & COUNTRY LIMIT VAN HAS A NEW DEFROSTER DESIGN NOW. ANY FIX FOR MY 2010?? *TR
